Matt Le Tissier not even getting 10 caps is a travesty. Hoddle is a moron

I agree, it's a shame he was overlooked, but was a pretty good time for English forwards, there was lots of competition around that period from Fowler, Wright, Shearer, Collymore, Sheringham, Ferdinand and Cole.

Oliver Kahn
Sepp Maier
Michael Ballack
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
Berti Vogts
Rudi Völler
Actually there are many players in the German NT who never reached 100 caps as the competition here is always very harsh. As a matter of fact, I just checked - there are currently only 7 players with more than 100 caps in all time (men's NT, btw - among the ladies things look a bit differently).

100 caps is a hefty number though, it's more the exception than the norm, even for great players.

Puskas with 84 in his day and age was pretty amazing pity he couldn't get there

Di Stefano takes the cake. But then again, he played for like 3 different NTs

Well, this he brought on himself. Löw wanted to give him the last two matches to reach 100, but then there was some dissent about a testimonial and Ballack declined the call-up.fatman123 wrote:Poor Ballack, he really is a serial runner up

I'm really surprised by this considering they both had international careers that spanned over a decade and played in a fair few WCs and ECs.

Well, Ballack was injured before the WC2010 and never properly came back from that. And Oliver Kahn was kicked out for Jens Lehmann before the WC2006. (Plus Kahn only became the Nr.1 after Andreas Köpke retired at the end of the WC1998)

Paul Scholes ffs
Eriksson and his obsession to play Gerrard and Lampard together which never bloody worked and put scholes wide left
caused Scholes to retire from international play at 27 ffs

Pélé
Robinho , Kaka , Ronaldo.
Robinho already had something like 85 caps at 26-27 but has 90 caps now.
Drogba : Basicaly started his carreer at 24 but still has 96 caps. He is more likely to get the number 100 though.

29 now that i actually went and checked lol I just remembered it was shortly after world cup 2002 went off top of my head
still criminal for a player of his skill and ability to be forced out at that young of an age because idiot coach can't use him properly

And to add insult to injury Lampard and Gerardive have both been far from great for England.
I suppose at least Man Utd benefited from his early international retirement.
