Bundesliga Equivalents in other Leagues Empty Bundesliga Equivalents in other Leagues

Post by Babun Mon Jul 15, 2013 8:14 pm

Bandwagoners jump their bandwagons from league to leagues, clubs to clubs etc. depending on the current success. What are the equivalent of Bundesliga teams in other leagues? hmm

I'll start with the premface dictionary:

- Bayern is the Manchester United of Bundesliga
- Dortmund is Chelsea
- Schalke is like Man City
- Leverkusen is the Arsenal of the lot
- HSV is Liverpool
- Stuttgart is comparable to Spurs
- Gladbach is like Sunderland in some sense
...

I leave the rest of the translation for you, guys :coffee:

Dortmund and Schalke are the Milan and Inter equivalent of Bundesliga.I guess that would be a better translation.

I was mainly thinking about the strength and spending power. Schalke and BVB have got the most spending power in Germany after Bayern. That's why I compared them to Chelsea or City. From playinh style's point of view BVB is all about counters= Chelski. Schalke has got lots of attackers but their midfield is soso= City. Leverkusen is like Arsenal. They always buy young undeveloped players which are later poached by other teams. Of course, they fail to win the league.

This makes no sense rofl

Dortmund who spent a few hundred thousand on players and sold them for masses of profit are the equivalent to a team who got money from a rich owner and spend 5x more than they need to.

Actually the comparison to Serie A teams fits nicely.

Bayern = Juventus. That national team identity plus both clubs are supported all over their respective counties.

Leverkusen=Napoli.Talented teams but choke when it matters.

Milan=Dortmund.Young team and are outdoing their rivals currently.

Schalke=Inter.Up and down teams who did well in the past.(Schalke reached a CL semi while Inter won CL).

I wonder where this brings the Fiorentina comparison into the equation.Maybe Wolfsburg hmm

That is just so unfitting...Here's a proper comparison:

Bayern - Inter (Treble winners)

Augsburg - Juve (Former lower division teams)

Schalke - Lazio (both German clubs)

Dortmund - Fiorentina (Similar projects)

And so on...

Dortmund and Schalke are like Arsenal and Spurs.

Spurs and Schalke have a similar drought. Neither of them has won the league in over 50 years.

Nah i was wrong ,Bundesliga comparison doesnt fit Inter at all,EPL would fit them quite nicely.
Inter=Swansea. Both have similar ambitions and both infact did achieve their ambition of finishing in 9th place. banana I would imagine Swansea would have higher ambitions by this year though.
And both teams isnt even considered their country league's own.Swansea is Welsh whereas Inter is a South American Sunday league team Proud

Dortmund is the equivalent of Arsenal in England, Barcelona in Spain, and Juventus in Italy. Known to be slightly less successful than one or a few other teams (United/Chelsea, Milan, and Madrid), but known for developing their own talents.

Then there's the M equivalents. Milan, Manchester, Munich, and Madrid.
