Iago Aspas - Shakespearean Blades
As good as signed.
Which number do you reckon he'll take??
9 is available with Carroll most likely leaving. 11 could be available with Assaidi's future certain to be somewhere else. Carra's 23 is also vacant. Dare I say number 7??
I'm calling either 11 or 23

Re: Iago Aspas - Shakespearean Blades
Those stats are actually astounding!!!
He can't be 9 or 11 yet with both numbers yet not vacant. Not a no.9 player 11 would have suited him.
Can be anything now of his choice

Re: Iago Aspas - Shakespearean Blades
A fine signing who should retain his purchase value for a few years even if he doesn't turn out to be a big success, but there's reason to be excited about what he can do for us.
My guess is he'll replace Downing in starting XI.

Re: Iago Aspas - Shakespearean Blades
I like the signing based on what I've seen in highlights and heard from others, especially with the price tag. Is anyone else worried about a Charlie Adam/Downing type situation though of signing the best player from a poor team? Those numbers in that graph up above were somewhat similar from our previous signings off of relegation or almost-relegation sides.

I didn't think Adam was too bad. And attack-wise it's impossible to do worse than Downing. I'm not worried, I'm pretty confident he's got something to offer, although I'm keeping my expectations moderate at this point, need to see him play a few games for us.

Does the delay in confirmation have anything to do with his desired Jersey no. ?

Aspas is technically way better than Adam and Downing combined.

Well it's still not official yet, I guess. But at least the club have confirmed the agreement.

Re: Iago Aspas - Shakespearean Blades
The move is far from complete.. Ayre apparently dealt with Aspas' unofficial agents. What a nutjob.

Re: Iago Aspas - Shakespearean Blades
That news is a couple of days old. In fact it came out even before both clubs announced the principal deal in their official websites.

Re: Iago Aspas - Shakespearean Blades
I know the default option is to blame Ayre for anything and everything that goes wrong off the pitch but in this case it really doesn't seem to be his fault. Both clubs worked with and negotiated through the same set of agents who had official documentation signed by Aspas himself. However, he signed those contracts/paperwork while still under contract with his previous agents (contracted until 2014). The new guys had all of the proper paperwork and officials signatures, Aspas just jumped the gun in switching representatives in his haste to get the move done.

Re: Iago Aspas - Shakespearean Blades
Not Ayre's fault.
Aspas is basically our player as of right now. He just can't play any official games until everything is settled and complete. He'll feature in our first game as everything will be resolved by then.

I'm not worried either. He can't officially be registered as a Pool player until July 1st anyways, so we've got plenty of time to finalize whatever the issue is and have him ready to start the preseason with everyone else on the 2nd.

Can see him getting 11. He was 11 for Celta, wasn't he?

Re: Iago Aspas - Shakespearean Blades
Oh. No chance of getting that here with Coutinho here. [And being the number 1 kit seller according to the club.]
Still confident he'll get 11.

Re: Iago Aspas - Shakespearean Blades
Well there is no news about Assaidi leaving just yet, don't you think it'll be a bit unprofessional to take a number away from a player and give it to a new signing. I'm only speculating on vacant numbers, and tbh I can see Alberto and Iago getting two of 9,17,18,23.
