this depends on if we are grooming Modric into becoming our new Alonso which I frankly I can't see happening because he isn't as smart as the old basque and doesn't have the passing accuracy of him either. At CM I prefer Modric to this Ronaldinho wannabe

Isco is coming. Navas going to City pretty much sealed that imo. Now i think Bale is not going to come and for 100 mil i hope not lol.

Cavani is going to come too imo. We've never had just one CF on the squad we could rely on. I think Benz leaves come the winter mercato.

Of course, Raul always played as either a SS or a CF. But still, we always had two capable CFs on the squad. The only it doesn't happen is if CR7 is ok with playing CF upon occasion and agrees to backup the position. Then we're fine. But i don't think that'll happen.

That is not Mourinho's fault, it's called common sense to have more than one good forward in the team. Relying on just one striker, especially if his name is Benzema, is ludicrous and even more so in a WC season in which I believe the schedule is more condensed.

There is no chance we don't sign another recognized striker. I still think it will be Cavani.

At least we should pick up a striker that would be relatively cheap and still bring something different to the table but would know their role as a back up.

I can't see Morata clutching it nor doing what Benzema does. My colombian bias says bring someone like Carlos Bacca

Bale is a legit goal threat can score 30 a season if he preforms so Benzema/Morata is more than enough imo.

Also I believe that after CR's era is over this team will be built around Ozil and I want him to take more responsibility as a goal scorer.

Plus I think Morata is ready, he has the ability to straight up bully defenders. I trust him.

If we don't get Bale then I guess we'll keep Di Maria and sign Cavani. We could do a lot worse I guess lol

But still 60 million for Cavani... He's not even that much better than Higuain tbh. Anyway if we don't sign Bale:

I don't think Ozil has shown anywhere the consistency needed to build a team around him. He's too hot and cold for the past 2 years... really disappointing this year tbh.

it was only recently we shifted to one striker in the formation though and Higgy was signed as a nobody so we didn't exactly go out looking for the next galactico then

Sometimes you have to put faith in a player and see what happens. We can't keep signing the "next big thing" every summer. Sooner or later we're going to have to take a leap of faith and if it doesn't work out then fine, nothing else has worked so far but if it does then it'll be awesome.

We should build the team around Benzema for sure, damn what a player. Everyone else is inconsistent, Di Maria was bad all season, Ozil only started playing since December, Ronaldo went missing the first 3 months of the season, Higuain was limited player as always. Only Benzema is special, never had a bad performance unless it's because Ronaldo preventing him from being a CF, Di Maria/Ozil/Modric/Kaka/Alonso/Lopez not providing him through balls, or Higuain stealing minutes from him. Just look at how impressive his goals/assists stats this past seasons.

the team is built around allowing CR to score goals. i agree about puting faith in Ozil like Z said, not only do we have no choice but it's safe.

Madrid is not the type of team that puts random faith around a player. Zidane was well established before the team was built around him. Same with Raul. CR7 also... Madrid won't make a leap of faith. Either Ozil puts together a great season or two and then perhaps gets his shot or he has no chance. Nobody has a chance while CR7 is here anyhow... and in a year or two, we'll see what the options are between internal players and someone out there.

Oh Alex and that sarcasm. Ozil has little chance for this team to be built around him. Not by the way he developing anyway...

Bale's not even worth 60m. He's had 1 good season and he's overrated. He isn't even a RW.

Technically he isn't the best and he's getting hyped too much for scoring long shots and copying Ronaldo's free kicks.

I think a lot of our players are actually hiding behind Ronaldo's immense aura. guys like Ozil and Benzema should have been stepping up a lot more in the past but ronaldo's back and soft and cushy

When CR7 stops taking 450 shots and actually allows other players to get some consistently, then maybe... but for now, CR7 is all about "me, me, me, me!" and the other players drift in and out because they get frustrated/bored. That's the reality of it. Only the lesser talented guys are ok with this nonsense because they neither expect nor require to see that ball regularly lol.
