Guys, I know it's crazy season time, but that doesn't mean you all have to go completely nuts at the same time
First of all, try to completely ignore Marca and AS during the off-season, and especially Goal.com. The first two are basically bullshit factories who make up tons of reports on just about every possible player that we could be interested in signing or that could leave us. For instance, we've been trying to sign Lewandowski, Falcao, Tevez, Cavani, Neymar, Suarez and Kun in the past month (and that's only the striker position!). They've also been saying goodbye to Pipita for 3 straight years now, so take everything they write as amusement during the no-footy season. Sure, they get a couple right, but that's just the law of averages. Also, disregard everything on Goal.com - they don't even make up their stories, they just re-write what other "papers" write, so what you get is copy-pasted "news".
Their desperation and lack of any real info is also obvious when it comes to our new coach; the obvious choice Ancelotti got complicated, so they are offering the ones that most people know about Heynckes (to retire), Klopp (not suited for our club, he works long-term) and as of today Villas-Boas (signed on for a project at Spurs just last year). All of this is pure speculation and we'll have to wait for the real names when Flo presents his project to the Socios (I think that's today or Monday).
As for the so-called Zidane project, I am not very optimistic. What does Zizou know about coaching, man-management and transfers? Not much more than any other ex-player is my guess and their success rate is 50/50 at best. What it does mean is that we're back to the old ways in which the President and Sporting director buy the players and the Coach simply selects them. I was never a big fan of this model but short-term it could work - it has before. Still, I am all for selecting a young(er) manager and planning for the long run. I can't imagine the Financial Fair Play rules would allow for another 200 mil spending and it's high time we get some of our youngsters in the first team.

It's a given that Zidane will consult the coach. Only Bale and Carjaval will come without taking with Heynckes IMO.

I don't want someone who's going to come in with any rigid pre-conceived notion of what they want to impose on the squad. I want someone to come in -work and collaborate with the squad and then organize the team accordingly....and I want that process to be continuous.
Something tells me that's why Carlo is high on the list. I'm not particularly a fan - but he checks some boxes. Same with Mancini - in that case I might just hate him - but given his approach to coaching we could do worse in this context.
The problem is you also need someone who will emphasize some basic fundamentals (defending, passing, movement) - while allowing the the overall structure to be dynamic and adaptable.

imo, i think it's you that doesnt understand the spanish medias. marca are crap, that's a given, AS however, great track record. all the transfer rumors have elements of truth, usually it means we are looking into players.Clandestino wrote:Guys, I know it's crazy season time, but that doesn't mean you all have to go completely nuts at the same time

Falcao: atletico player so no go
kun: city said no and gave him a new deal
lewandowski: we asked, but he has a deal with bayern
neymar: pretty obvious we tried
tevez: marca written fake all over this lol
cavani: carlo's target but too expensive and carlo isnt even here yet
suarez: comes on the list because all the above are a no go
Higuain: he is unhappy at the club and thinks about going for about 2 years now. when players and fans sing pipita quedate, it's not because medias invented bullshit
As for the coach, carlo has a deal agreed with us and it's not easy dealing with PSG. meanwhile, because we are a business we have contingency plans which include Heynckes, someone who is free. even medias like RMC said there was some sort of agreement so it's pretty safe to assume it as correct. the other names, are B.S.
anyway, it's better to try to understand how medias work, who to trust and who to listen to, than trying to pit everyone in the same box and saying they all lie, because there are actually good professionals among those people that do their job well.

I am sorry to say this, but you are deluded. I've been reading both on-line editions daily ever since I started studying Spanish and it's been over a decade now so I'll dare to say I know exactly what I am talking about. Both newspapers are the same and there are no professionals employed at AS, starting with Alfredo Relano - its director, the famous Villarato theorist, and ending with mr. Objectivity himself Tomas Roncero. You're losing all credit when you call these people professionals, trustworthy and use words such as "great track record" when they stoop so low to even doctor videos (their "offside with the deleted player" video being the prime example). I actually don't blame the journalists, they are just trying to sell editions/internet clicks, but their audience should know better than to eat their every word and even defend them in public, lol.
Can't you see they quote the Mirror, the Sun, Daily Star and other "trustworthy sources" besides their own "close to the club" sources?
And the direct consequence of this is you speaking as if you are in contact with all the players, their agents, their clubs, our president and who not. Just look at your last post, it's absolutely ridiculous! Someone could think Perez and Zidane report directly to you while you and Jorge Mendes are discussing where to move the top players

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
I actually think AS has been pretty good the last 3 years... better and better. They sucked before that; but that's because Marca was the preferred media for Real Madrid to leak stories. Since Mou shut Marca down, AS has gotten the scoops. They've handled it well. They rarely need to resort to stupidity as a result. Marca, on the other hand, have degraded to the point of being a complete joke.
To me, a reporter is only as good as his sources and if the good sources go to AS now (which they are in Real Madrid's case), then they're automatically more credible. That's what has happened.
Good reporting is all about research and accurate sources.

big whoop, i have followed them just the same. the basic idea is that you need to learn how to pick and choose because the basic assumption that they are all evil is a childish one. most of their reports about tranfers targets, tranfers activity and whatever happens within the club are legit. Relano? Roncero? lol they are buffoons and i am obviously not talking about them.Clandestino wrote:

when they report stuff from the daily mirror and english tabloids, it's the kind of stuff you dont need to pay attention to. but usually when they have their own source, it's more serious, that's basically how it goes. i dont defend them overall as a paper because they have done some shaddy stuff but i am defending the idea that all they print is fake because it's obviously not the case.
for someone who prides himself in following madrid and knowing spanish you should know by now how the transfer market work, how we look at players and where the good informations usually come from. madrid wanting kun or Neymar are things are simply true, it's your problem if you dont want to believe it. those same medias are usually same sources that said weeks ago that zidane would come back and it's happening. oh well

Karanka:
“Mourinho offered me to go with him but Real Madrid haven’t told me I’m to be released.
“I’ve still got three years left on my contract and I’d have to pay them to leave,” he added in The Sun.
“If I leave, then I’ll join Mourinho at Chelsea, or else I’ll go and become head coach at a French top division club.”

I'm with Clandestino on this, Spanish media (including As) flat out sucks. Maybe there is a nugget of truth buried somewhere among the pile of cow dung they put out daily but it's not worth looking for.

maybe it's experience mixed with common sense, but usually i feel that i have a pretty god grasp of things. but maybe it's also because i look at different medias and perspective at the same time to see if opinions converge. but one thing us sports have taught me is that there is no way you can go around sports insiders. just look for them, take what they say with a pinch of salt but it's better than anything else

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
Fred Hermel was just on L'Equipe 21. He was able to talk to one of the director of Real Madrid today since they were all present when Flo officially announced his candidacy for president today.
Here's what he said he was told:
- Real Madrid remain extremely optimist for Carlo
- PSG is going to have to make a decision in the next 10 days because PSG needs clarity in regards to the manager prior to getting some of their transfer targets to commit (i.e. Rooney)
- PSG has everything to lose and nothing to win by keeping Carlo. Namely, if PSG start the season badly, then Naser will be blamed for forcing to keep a manager who didn't want to be there
In summary, in Madrid, they think Carlo is coming. PSG just need to agree with their plan B coach since Leo was suspended so heavily and that will take 7-10 days.

Heynecks , Reus, and Isco must come... Bale should replace Ronaldo because his price will go down year by year... we will make profit if we sell him this year.. .plus from his funds we could easily buy Bale Iso Reus and Gund

Milan played some really great football back when Carlo was with them.
Here is Milan back in 2003 under Carlo
It's a long video but worth watching. I totally wouldn't mind watching us play like that. Keep in mind that Ancelotti is perhaps most well known for making a system based on the players he has and at Madrid he'll have dynamic, athletic and attack minded studs to work with.

Nick having a God grasp on things as usual. My Spanish is at a bare minimum so for me to even try to read any of those sites would be an exercise in futility. I do know that rumours usually have an element of truth, given certain media outlets, you can measure how much "truth" there is in the statement.
I do believe, however, we made contact with Carlo, we bid for Neymar and we fell short of Isco's requirements i.e being a guaranteed starter.
