Why is he so underrated here? The kid has everything, pace, power, technique, a great shot, great passing range etc.

Best left back in the world now, Cole has lost it quite a bit now sad to say and Marcelo I admit he's a good attacker, great dribbles and he has improved defensively but he still isn't positionally all there imo.

Ribery is more of a LB than he is tbf

The amount of times Ribery got back and made goal saving challenges in the final alone is shocking.

Alaba doesn't even have to defend

He's a great player but he couldn't wish for a better player in front of him.

He's underrated? I think most people can agree that he's a top fullback, even if most won't admit he's pretty much the best in the world. Yes, so suck it.

He's only 20, and his natural position is actually CM... but considering how stacked our midfield is, and his physical gifts, van Gaal saw the potential in him and put him at LB. Obviously leagues better than playing frakking Badstuber at left back (not that Badstuber is bad... but he's a frakking 1 legged turtle when it comes to pace).

The potential in this kid is scary.

I agree that he's helped out a lot by Ribéry... but that's just natural when you have 2 attack minded oriented players on the same wing. Whenever he's had to defend he's done so solidly enough.

You are probably talking about pre 2010 Marcelo, coz he improved very much since then, and he is a pretty good defender, not a top one ofc.
