Agreed. I'm cringing at everyone saying "them shirt sales :datass:" after seeing Madrid fans harp on about it for so long after the Ronaldo signing.

We payed a lot of money for Neymar. I hope he proves his worth. That's it.

People feel a need to justify the signing NOW. There is no need to. Take a look in the future and THEN we'll see how justified his signing was. Remember how laughed at the Javi Martinez transfer was?

The amount is irrelevant at this point, he is a Barcelona player, that's all that matters. However, the cynic in me can't really take the whole "exclusively today that they got their hands on documents" all that seriously.

Not to insult Globo, I would like to think they are very reliable but, you know, people lie, especially the media...

Just re read the quote, he used the word signed for 57 mil... You're probably wrong, it's 57mil to different parties and 17 mil to Santos

Nah that's how i see it too....

But it still explains why they have 30m+ to spend on a CB because most of this 57m doesn't come into effect this year and doesn't effect this years financial results.

Including the 10m downpayment from last year, very weird deal.

Barcelona only paid 17M for the player, Santos got only 9.35M.lol all you want, im not the one making this stuff up its globo reporting it with the actual documents .Guess how many many people from barcelona and santos came out denying this?

Why don't clubs usually count this then?

Usually just the fee is made public and the rest is ignored.

If we are going to use this logic going forward then CR cost RM well over 100m lol.

according to globo 57M is everything including agent fees,2 friendlies and mainly bonuses as for example, score x number of goals,balond dor top 3 etc.All in all,Barcelona wont spend 57M unless nobody buys tickets for the Santos-Barca friendlies or Neymar has a goat season

This would be the first time in history a club would claim they paid MORE for the player than they actually did. And not just more, more than 3 times more - you really buy this crap? The only way this would make any sense is if Barca's officials wanted to pocket the difference between the supposed 57 and the "actual" 17, but that would be a much too easy way to get yourself in prison.

By the way, you also have Perez - RM president - saying that we couldn't go through with the deal financially as it would cost around 150 mil. This seems about right as 57 for transfers and a 5 year deal on 10 mil net would be close to that number.
