Re: Ajax the Champions of Eredivisie

Many thanks for creating this thread RealGunner. No surprise that this forum only follow priitive football. Master de Boer has extended his contract till 2017

Hopefully we can restructure the youth system. The high father has even commented on the improvements

The needs to be a balance between van Gaalism and Cruyffism, the system vs the individual.

This is the best Eredivisie league since 2004... what does Netherlands losing to Belgium have anything to do with the quality of the league ffs?
Below the Begium league. What a joke.
Ajax would kill any of the sides you mentioned above alone. And with ease too. Ajax have just gave De Boer a new contract also so you can watch Ajax in the CL in the next 2-3 years.

The Eredivisie is Mickey Mouse but below the Belgium league and Anderlecht, Brugge, Genk, Waregem would destroy Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord?

Re: Ajax the Champions of Eredivisie
I stand corrected; you guys gave such good arguments why the Eredivisie is a higher class then the Belgium leaugue, I have no choice but to adjust my opinion.
How did Ajax do in the CL by the way?

Idiot comment by a admin; 'enjoy your ban'. Is that the example you are giving? And I still stand by my opinion - the Eredivisie is a shit competition, Ajax did horrible in the CL, other Dutch teams got executed very early in the Europe League and Feyenoord was the last team to win a European title in 2001. I still feel the same way. Belgium leaugue is better. Thank you for banning me for giving a opinion.

Re: Ajax the Champions of Eredivisie
Its not an opinion its nonsense. Using Dutch teams performances in europe as proof that the Belgian league is better is only relevant if teams from Belgium perform better in those same competitions.
And bringing up the history of success makes even less sense. The last time a team from Belgium won a european title was in the early 80s. Appearing in 4 european finals total.
Teams from Netherlands have won 10 european titles, and appeared in 16 european finals.
You can think the Belgium league is better but at least give reasons to support that before saying how wrong everyone else who thinks otherwise is....

Well Belgium got 50% more coefficient points this season than Netherlands, so maybe it's a start of clear overtake.

Re: Ajax the Champions of Eredivisie
Take a moment to speak about Ajax here.
>Debt free since selling Suarez in 2011.
>23,9 million (Euros) profit over the last 6 months.
>New campaign to just play kids through academy rather than buying talent from abroad.
>Frank de Boer as their manager.
They can soon actually offer competitive wages (and longer contracts) and keep the quality of Eriksen/Vertonghen etc around the club for a little tad longer which helps their progression in the CL. I mean, they only got rid of Eriksen/Vertonghen/Alder recently because they only had 1 year left on their contracts.
Their goal next season will definitely be to make it out of the CL groups next season. They're slowly becoming a force again.
Really hoping they attempt to win the Europa this season.

Re: Ajax the Champions of Eredivisie
Oh, and massive protest from their fans to bring their old logo back:

I actually enjoy the current logo. They won the CL in 1995 with the current "total football" logo so it definitely has some sort of worth to it.

Re: Ajax the Champions of Eredivisie
Those who follow Dutch football/League regularly:
I just checked the table and though there are 18 teams, Ajax is declared winner after 24 games. I suppose it's because their four points lead over second-placed Twente. However that would mean it's a 25 game (rather than 34 game) competition.
Does it works like this:
All teams play each other in the first stage (17 games).
Top nine play each other in the next stage (8 games).
Bottom nine play each other in the next stage (8 games).

Yeah, I just checked their fixture ('cause it seemed odd that league would be over in February).

I'm sorry people, but this was the only Ajax thread.
They'll win the Eredivisie this season anyway.

Re: Ajax the Champions of Eredivisie
Top players don't want to play in Eredivisie as long as it remains as shit as it currently is. Sure it's good that Ajax are slowly building back towards the summit but they need more than just one club to do that. You need the PSV's and the Feyenoords to start becoming a force again as well to bring the league back up.
Look at Ligue 1 the last decade. Lyon were a real powerful force for almost a decade in the league with good management, good finances, etc. But they only made it respectably far in CL once. And top players still always left them, Essien, Malouda, Mamadou Diarra, Benzema, Abidal. All because Ligue 1 was just not prestigious enough for top players to remain there long term.
Or look at Porto. Amazing finances, great business model. Obviously they were able to win the CL but longer term they just never managed to remain consistently at the highest level. Always second tier among the European elite. Liga Sagres is shit compared to the top leagues.
Ajax can keep doing what their doing but they will never be able to reach their historic heights again unless Eredivisie as a league climbs. That's the hard truth.
I think French league finally understands this. Now with the rise of PSG and Monaco, Ligue 1 is finally moving in the direction and is ultimately able to attract top players like Ibra, Cavani, Falcao, Silva, etc.
