And before anyone says anything, this has already been implemented in snooker and tennis, so it's not a case of "if" it works

FIFA will use GoalControl in the Confed Cup 2013, and if it is successful there, they will use GoalControl in the World Cup 2014 as well.

A little confused why they are hiring this outside company to implement this foreign technology instead of just using the stadiums in-house feed like they do in the NBA/NFL IIRC

Sometimes it's really close and you can't tell whether it's actually crossed or not, depending on the camera angle?
