Re: 2022 Qatar World Cup
I think it is more that the FIFA demands only their sponsors to be given access and that practically all revenues end up with the FIFA and that they are tax exempt, thus they will siphon off as much as they can while the host country sits on the risk and the costs. With the USA already being in some dire straits with their finances, how sensible would it be to throw out a lot of money without much in return for it? And how could that be sold to the tax payers?VendettaRed07 wrote:Why would the WC cost the US so much to host? Like Australlia our stadiums are ready. I just find it hard to believe that the US wouldn't submit a bit if a revote is infact taken.

Now that money is in the line I can easily see this lead to a remote. Australia 2022 here we come
If I were blatter I would lobby for the US, China and India to host it. The three biggest markets all untapped by football.

U.S would barely have to spend a dime, they have so many top of the line stadiums and is very touristic country.

Re: 2022 Qatar World Cup
Adidas, Sony and Visa are now all officially concerned about corruption at FIFA. That's 3 of their 6 biggest sponsors (although I doubt Emirats will take a stand on this issue).

I don't find it an ideal place just to spend money for air-conditioning, I think that FIFA should also think consider how the players body will react with the temperature.

Franz Beckenbauer has been banned by Fifa from taking part in any football-related activity for 90 days. The governing body alleges that he has failed to co-operate with the ongoing inquiry by Michael Garcia into Fifa’s vote to award the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar respectively.

From the article:
"...and he has never declared for which countries he voted. Last weekend, based on a cache of documents in its possession, the Sunday Times alleged that Beckenbauer visited Qatar before and after the vote, at the invitation of Mohamed Bin Hammam, the Qatari exco member who has since been banned by Fifa from football activities for life following corruption allegations.
The Sunday Times reported that in June 2011, Beckenbauer visited Qatar as part of a business delegation for the Hamburg shipping company ER Capital Holding, for which Beckenbauer was an adviser and ambassador. He has since 2012 also been an ambassador for the Association of Russian Gas Producers."

Yeah, I read it, but until now I thought he had said that he voted for Australia. In any case, they should investigate him and the rest of the Ex-co.

Winter World Cup done dealio?
Multiple sources say it's a done deal that World Cup 2022 will take place in November and December of 2022 in Qatar. A FIFA task force will meet in Doha next week and make that recommendation, and the FIFA Executive Committee is set to make the decision final at its meeting in Zurich next month.
The current plan is for only one European club season to be impacted schedule-wise, which the clubs are hoping to achieve by cutting some international dates. One key question is what to do about Confederations Cup the year before, but the big World Cup decision has been made. Set your calendars for November-December of 2022.

And Russia doing their best to make the decision to give the 2018 WC to them look equally stupid as this.

This is a disgrace. Give it to a MENA country with real footballing passion like Morroco, Algeria, Egypt, *bleep* me even Israel would be a way better choice..
