this is not just some ad popup. It's an authentification popup asking for username and password like if you were logging onto a proxy or your router or something.

First of all, thanks for the uBlock tip. I've installed it, and it is indeed better.
By using its protocol log tool, I could also find the origin of the thevipgambler popup:
It is none other than the source of the Bayern Munich logo that's used by GL, and which is trying to load obviously whenever a page contains a post of mine or another Bayern supporter.
The image address is:
***.thevipgambler.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/CL-Bayern-Munich.png
and I guess when it's trying to load this, the site asks for some kind of authetification.
Please change the source of the icon!

Probably something like when the logo was removed/changed the sorting of the club list was changed.
If you check on your profile, OL is right after Liverpool. Mine changed to Sao Paolo which is right after Madrid
