Villa away last season was the game we had the opportunity to tie up CL qualification in and we very nearly cocked it up completely. Went behind early on and had a player sent off on the stroke of halftime. Luckily Sir Frank bailed us out and we won in the end, but it was a very close game, and they weren't much worse then than they are now.

So of all the big sides (·current Top 8·) at home this season, it's been - 2 against City, 3 against Southampton (joint-4th when we played them), 2 against Liverpool, 3 against United, 1 against Everton, 4 against Spurs, and 6 against Arsenal - for a total of 21 goals for in 7 games and just 4 against.

City still have to play Everton, Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal away from home, that is 4 games where they can drop points, Compared to our one remaining big game against Liverpool.

That last game against Cardiff away is a potential banana skin. Let's hope they're already down by closing day.

We've got a better defence than Liverpool so I am not worried. Also, they will be, they're three points clear at bottom and one game less to play.

We're not the only team who has to face relegation strugglers.

It's the same for everyone.

Few manage to choke in those smaller games despite being so supreme in the big ones like we do.

So I've only realised today that the game right after Palace is the first leg against PSG. Crikey.

Btw, this thread has proved a tremendous success far beyond its original intended purpose of discussing our squad for the next (this) season. We're essentially using it as the "Our Form" thread and it's come in immense handy right throughout the campaign. A 'Chelsea 2014/15' thread should definitely be in the cards.

This was created early because we were out of the title and I was feeling down. Since we're still in the title race, I won't discuss next season until this season is over.

But I'd be willing to bet that in none of those other seasons were there multiple teams with 1 to 3 games in hand each.

Should we keep clean sheets in our next two home games, we will break out record for most consecutive clean sheets at SB.
