Lets not forget the Varane red card as well...

I'm sure a different angle will show a different perspective of Nani's challenge.
Also intent doesn't really matter. Intent doesn't mean a challenge isn't dangerous.

This picture says it all.
The Red Card was most definitely harsh, but the calls against it are highly blown out of proportion. If it is above the pelvis with studs up, there is a reasonable hypothesis in pulling out the dismissive card.
The only thing that picture shows is the beautiful Italian flag.
Nani was following the ball and barely hit Arbeloa on the side. Yellow card? Sure. Red?

it would actually be just as insane giving their keeper a red for that

Re: Manchester United vs Real Madrid discussion
Surag I hope you're not too butthurt
Red was harsh but not unreasonable. The only reason people are making a big deal about it is because it pretty much guaranteed we would win. Nani is such a idiot though LMAO. If United fans want to be pissed off at someone Nani would be a great candidate.
I think tonight's ref was terrible and this isn't the first time either. No idea why he keeps getting high profile games.
Anyway on the balance of the two games I say Madrid deserved to go through. Both teams would have deserved to go through imo. But this is the Champions League and it'll always come down to the details.
(Rafael was lucky not get sent off, that handball cost Madrid a 100% goal)

Excatly!
Both unintentionally hit someone. One by kicking him and the other by punching someone in the head.

Tell me what I have said that was wrong?
You can clearly see why I made the comparision, no?
I can not see how the barca game helped you at all, seeing as RM were shit for the entire game until the ref stepped in..

Re: Manchester United vs Real Madrid discussion
what are you on about? keepers use their hands, they always do punch the ball in order to throw it away of their area, its a licit action whereas rising your foot its notharhar11 wrote:Arquitecto wrote:vanDEEZ wrote:I dont think it was a red but the fact of the matter is nani went up with a high boot. I am very upset United didnt go through, i mean they were so good, they displayed so much grit. Football certainly didnt win tonight, Uefa and Platini did, and so did real madrid

He mistimed it and got nothing of the ball and all Vidic, meaning it's a penalty..
And rising your feet to control a ball is not against the rules. It's only against the rules if you are close to an opponent. And if you do break those rules, the referee generally just gives a yellow..

Re: Manchester United vs Real Madrid discussion
Madrid did really well to win this match, they did what they had to do when given the opportunity.
The decision in my opinion was a terrible one, but still Madrid did well to exploit the situation. Also it's about time United got a taste of their own damn medicine for a change eh " tim howard "
As for the game without the sending off, Madrid were handled pretty well. Despite all the possession they didn't make much of it. Leaving rooney out was a good move, maybe him instead of van persie, bcus persie sucks now he left arsenal haha

Re: Manchester United vs Real Madrid discussion
Don't mess with harhar, in his opinion Barca is still better than Madrid.
If Rafael would have been given a red card and penalty we wouldn't have this discussions. And of course Higuain's goal.

Man I hope Barca go through and we draw them in the round of 8. I want us to rest players for the semi finals.

Oh the arrogance.. But let's say that for some reason Madrid didn't win the CL. What would be a bigger failure to you guys:
Not winning the CL or not winning La Liga?
Although that's probably a more appropriate question for Mou than for anyone
