Re: Tottenham vs Olympique Lyonnais
Tottenham's lack of a striker is becoming a joke at this point.
It's unacceptable at this level it really is. If we didn't have Bale then we would be doing just as bad as we did last season in the second half of the season.

Aderbayor was completely bad. Is he 38 years old? He was more offside than Gomis.

Re: Tottenham vs Olympique Lyonnais
The first half was all Tottenham, I can't believe they only walked out of there with only 1 goal in extra time. We missed a couple sitters, and continue to waste corner kicks, so it's not surprising. Never mind, that for the better part of the first half Lennon and Walker were practically invisible.
I absolutely loved the connection with Dempsey and BAE, because it really paid dividends in the first 35 minutes of the game. Then Dembele was drifting right off of Dempsey and putting great balls into Ade and Bale. There should of been two sure goals by Bale, when he decided to go for the YouTube volley on the switch by Dembele, and then he follows it up with a beautiful sitter that Ade absolutely muffed.
For once we got a good no call on a penalty, because though I wouldn't of called it a penalty, it could of been. Perhaps this is the reason we got screwed on the off-sides call against Ade after the beautiful long ball by BAE.
Then after total malaise, Walker decided to bypass Lennon and join the game, and puts in an absolute sitter to Bale who muffs it to Ade who muffs it wide of goal.
We got lucky that Bale decided to get all magisterial in extra time with the chili dipping knuckle ball. Just pure class.
In the second half Lyon came out firing, and lead to an absolute beauty by Umtiti on the half volley. Lyon then continues to pile on the pressure forcing Friedel into action to save 3 points on a wonderful save in the 62nd minute.
Then BAE wakes up again and Bale misses another sitter. AVB then goes to his bench to freshen up the offense, and brings on Holtby for Dempsey since Demps had pretty much gone quiet since the 35th minute. Holtby looked good, but didn't really create much of anything when he came on, so I didn't really notice any difference there.
Then nothing really happened in the game from the substitution until the 78th minute when Walker decides to exert his will once again. AVB decides to provide a facilitator for Walker, so he takes Lennon off the pitch who was largely useless and in the way. However, unfortunately nothing really happened with this substitution either, as the game went relatively quiet until extra time.
Then Bale creates space and takes a nice crack that goes right at the keeper. Then he does good to draw the foul leading to another moment of magic for Spurs.
Overall, I was impressed with the first half, but the second half was to flat. In the end the game should of never been close as Lyon was obviously not on the same level as Tottenham. Should be a easy homecoming for Lloris and onto the next round for Spurs.

God I love how this just floats to the top right corner. There is no better feeling in football than lacing one like that. Just watching it gets me pumped for 7 a side tomorrow night.
