Tottenham vs Olympique Lyonnais

Played on Thursday.

Obviously Tottenham is the big favourite here. Not only the London club does have better players at every position on the field (the highlights being Lloris, Bale and Lennon), they have also a much better coach and are on a great form domestically while Lyon has been very poor in 2013, a poor form culminating in two crushing defeats in the last two matchs (1-3 against inferior sides) that have pushed further the club (staff, players, supporters) into pessimism about the future.

On top of that, the game is being played in London and we are notoriously much weaker away.

All the odds are in favour of Tottenham here. Lyon will have to do the maximum not to concede a too heavy defeat to just retain a chance for the second leg. A defeat by more than one goal would be a lethal blow.

meh, spurs are awful in EL, i expect OL to go through

When this draw was made i thought OL would win but now i'm thinking Spurs.

Should be a good couple of games regardless.

Back in these days, we had a chance, because we were in great form, playing good football. But sadly all of that is gone.

Players are unhappy, Aulas has broken the teamspirit, Bastos is gone, Garde is useless, Malbranque lost his magic level, Grenier and Gourcuff still have not recovered well....

There is big amount of factors against us when all is well for the english side.

As bad as a Spurs are in EL, I don't see them losing this. OL have been terrible lately.

Pretty much this.

We've been bad in the EL but we still went through so I don't mind much. I did mind when Lyon were chosen though, and I wasn't too optimistic. Now I feel good about this though, and I expect a win to be honest.

We'll see though. It will be a good game.

I think part of the reason this will be our easiest fixture in the Europa League is that there is nothing else for us to focus on. We essentially have the next 2 weeks off, and then have a relatively easy fixture against West Ham before we play Arsenal.

So I am fully expecting Spurs to go through, but not without the typical stress of a Spurs fixture.

At half time, deserved lead 1- for Tottenham.

We were denied a clear penalty for a fault on Gomis and Totthenam scored on a free kick where no faults were committed. Bad referee.

But a part of that, Tottenham is easily dominating. We haven't started to play.

He is. I can't believe we have him at this place when we had Lloris.

At Gerland we will need to play from the start of the game and we will need a neutral referee that will not be so obviously biased.

Still overall Tottenham was the best team but we were equal in the second half time until Garde made stupid substitutions. That performance was better than I expected to be honest.
