Re: Paul Pogba !!
Sure, Pobga, but was the question really about whos better? I thought the question was more, is Sir Alex a retard for letting him go? Even though he didnt really let him go.

True, but I only presented that question because the thread has turned into a debate over who's better.
IMO, you don't let go of (or sell, or whatever) young athletic talent unless you are sure they won't produce, or become a viable asset in the future. I don't think Man United did their due diligence on this one. Unless I don't have all the facts, it seams to me that they discarded a young talent and it may come back to haunt them.
And for the record, I don't see anything wrong with a player like Cleverly, he is good and talented and I wish him the best.

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you say anything that resembles a rational thought... I award you no points, and may go have mercy on your soul.

Re: Paul Pogba !!
Man U didn't really let him go. He refused to extend until he saw playing time... he didn't so he left. Also helped that Juve offered him a lot more money.
When Man U brought Scholes back last year, there was no way Pogba was going to say. To him, that showed no confidence by SAF.
If they had played him ad promised last year, he wouldn't have left.

But surely they had to see the talent. I guess I just have a problem with teams favoring older players to plug a hole rather than give the kids a chance. Has scholes been such a standout for united this season that he is irreplaceable? I don't think so. But I'm also not a top flight manager, and probably don't know what I am talking about.
I would have let him play/held onto him. I don't know the figures of the deal but like i said, I would have done whatever possible to hold onto the young talent and sell when he's truly valuable if he wouldn't have fit my system.
Either way, I am certainly not complaining. He will be a star for sure.

Re: Paul Pogba !!
So I did a little bit of digging and found this:
Ferguson confirmed that Pogba will feature with the senior team during the season stating "I mean if we hold Pogba back, what’s going to happen? He’s going to leave. You know, in a couple of years’ time when his contract is going to finish. So we have to give him the opportunity to see how he can do in the first-team and he’s got great ability".
A bit perplexing. He wanted to give him first team time, but didn't. This is particularly interesting to me as this was quoted at the start of the 11-12 season. Pogba made his premier league debut later on in January, and only featured 3 times that season. Twice as a substitute. He then signed for Juve.
Looks to me like they didn't really let him go, but didn't really give him much of a choice either.

Re: Paul Pogba !!
Well I think Sir Alex wa merely exercising patience with him, he had many options and given Pogba's age he was the one missing out.
He brought Scholes back, because Pogba simply wasnt capable of bringing what Scholes could given his lack of experience in his point of view.
Pretty sure knowing Sir Alex he was telling Pogba to be patient, but Pogba didnt want to wait and thats his decision which is a fair one.
Seems to me its just a disagreement, Sir Alex wanted patience and gradually introducing him and Pogba felt he wasnt getting the chances.

Re: Paul Pogba !!
The Serie A star says he preferred to join the Bianconeri in 2012, despite many European giants chasing for his signature at the time
Paul Pogba says he was unwilling to listen to offers from Chelsea, Arsenal and AC Milan ahead of his switch from Manchester United to Juventus.
The French youngster joined the Red Devils' youth academy in 2009 from Le Havre but, was unable to force his way into the first team, making just three Premier League appearances.
However, the midfielder says as soon as Juventus were enquiring about his services, former United coach Sir Alex Ferguson could no longer persuade him to stay at Old Trafford.
"Sir Alex Ferguson tried to keep me at Manchester United, but he didn’t get very far," the 20-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.
"Other clubs were tracking me but I only had Juve in my mind. At the time, I heard from Chelsea, Arsenal and Milan, but nobody is like Juve."
The Bianconeri have seen world-class French midfield players play at the club, including Michel Platini, Didier Deschamps and Zinedine Zidane.
Pogba says having the opportunity to emulate those footballing greats was a key factor behind his decision to move to Turin.
"Since childhood I’ve always liked Juve and supported that team," he added.
"For the French this club means a great deal, as so many French champions played in Turin, so that’s why I liked them.
"I am happy to be here and I want to win many trophies with this jersey."
Pogba has so far won the Supercoppa Italiana twice and Serie A once.

Re: Paul Pogba !!
picking him up? offering ridiculous wages to a reserve player? it wasnt a great find by juve by any stretch of the imagaination.
its the same way theyre trying to get their claws into januazi [sp] who is actually a better player, barca contacted the boy as well.
if pogba and januazi is the new way theyre doing business then that makes them worse for football than city / madrid / psg / monaco / chelsea combined.
battling over 15 yos.. fair enaugh. if you do get them then theres still development and work going into the youngster, cherry picking them just before they sign the full contracts at 18, thats not on imo.

Re: Paul Pogba !!
He was only a reserve played because Fergie made a mistake not giving him proper playing time.
How wrong we were in offering a player who would go on to be the top player in the U20 WC 0.8M per year.
As for Janu, how the fk can he possibly be better than Pogba without proving it first?

Re: Paul Pogba !!
because pogba didnt come out of nowhere, the reserve matches are on tv and have a broad basis to analyse from.
the boys ridiculous, hes 18 and was by far the best player in pre season, tore sevilla a new one on his own.
pogba didnt get time because he didnt deserve it. the season before his last at utd, we reached the cl final and won the league. pogba at 17 odd was not good enaugh to get on that team. the season he wouldve got in, he half assed it because juve had him tied up. his last season and a half, his performances was disgraceful. even playing first team in the fa cup, carling cup and against atletico, he was abysmal. thats the truth

Re: Paul Pogba !!
If he was such a money grabbing whore he would've gone elsewhere and not at Juventus of all clubs.
The new Juventus doesn't have a reputation for overpaying players especially youngsters. The difference was that Conte considered Pogba a first-team player and offered him adequate wages unlike SAF and his people who didn't believe in him enough.

Re: Paul Pogba !!
Exactly
I bet there is quite a few clubs who would've paid even more money for him.
Our wage structure is pretty solid. Legends like Buffon have taken pay cuts. Our Icon Del Piero was playing for 1M/season towards the end. We rarely cave in and pay high wages.
