Re: Guardiola to Bayern
I'm torn.
First off, I really want Bayern to be coached by a German.
Secondly, I'm not a huge fan of tiki-taka.
Those are the negative points, both of which are hugely subjective.
The positive ones are more objective.
Pep knows his shit. He has shown to be tactically adept, and he is a man with a vision, and people know this about him. Even Rumenigge and Hoeness will know this. So he's far less likely to get rage-sacked than a lot of other managers, which is good. Because Bayern have been abramovitchesquely enthusiastic about sacking coaches for the last decade or so.
Even though I doubt he'll just try to play the same tiki-taka he did with Barca, he will most likely focus on possession, this fits Bayern.
I always look at the changes in Bayerns system from the perspective of the German NT.
And it will not hurt us if Bayerns midfielders learn how to hold on to the ball even better.
Of course Bayern will play differently to Barca. Their wingers are too good to not do it.
But they do have similarities.
Kroos and Schweinsteiger aren't Xavi, but they do like to occupy similar positions, and they are both excellent playmakers. Sure, together they'd sit deeper than Xaviesta, traditionally, but they could form just as fruitfull a relationship.
Bring the false 9 to Bayern? No problem. There's Müller, Shaqiri, hell, maybe even Robben.
There's all manner of experiments to be made. This is hugely exciting.
Though I only like this move because Heynckes retires. Otherwise I would've much preferred him. I just don't think the Bundesliga needs more "flair", as Hoeness put it. I much prefer grit.

Re: Guardiola to Bayern
I don't know what you people are on about Muller. He won't be the false 9 under Pep. He lacks way too much technique to play that role. Muller will be a vice-Pedro under Pep.
Pep will probably not use a false nine having Mandzukic and Gomez, or if he uses the false 9 it would probably be Ribery.

Sorry guys, but he will definitely play his brand of football to the last consequence.
When the opposition team wants to attack, it's the most entertaining style.
PS. Tiki-taka means nothing. It's not a tactic, nor a style. It's just a commentators tag.

Re: Guardiola to Bayern
I think Guardiola is intelligent enough to make good use of the players at hand. So I think he will not turn Bayern into a Barca copy, simply strengthen Bayern as-is.

You can either split hairs, or use context to determine what I mean by "tiki-taka" - a possession-oriented short-passing game. Which is a style, and also half of a tactic.
Then again, I wouldn't want to have you slow down and think, you probably got German football to bash. :-)

Slow down and think. You should apply your recomendations to yourself before using a retarded term like "tiki-taka".
It's a tiring to listen people describe a complex way of playing football as Tiki-taka, which only means pass-pass.

Re: Guardiola to Bayern
Which is exactly what I want to express, so what's the problem?
Do you really need me to spell out formations, passing triangles, possession v chance creation etc., or can you act like a grown-up for a post or two and take a cue from context?

Whatever dude, do as you please, as you could see from my answer I already understood the context, but I was passing some knowledge so you could express yourself appropiately when it comes to football.
I understand you are not very informed because so far Pep has never coached in Germany and the TV commentator who created the term tiki-taka was not german. No worries, you'll be able to learn it all about Pep's style of football from next season.

I am not sure why German/Bayern fans would not be happy with a high possession game. You already have one.

Re: Guardiola to Bayern
They don't play low risk possession, which is what Barca does. It's direct and attacking... Bayern rarely, if ever, pass backwards. Completely different. They play much more like Arsenal than Barca.

Which was my point when I said I'm not a huge fan of "tiki-taka", I don't like the safety-first approach.

van Gaal killed our success with this 70% backward passing style.

Not to mention Ribery is not at all comfortable with it as the time with Van Gaal showed...

you can't compare Van Gaal to Pep defensively though. Van Gaal played absolutely no defense lol.

Re: Guardiola to Bayern
For the Germans here: The PK in Munich with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge just starts this moment on n-tv!
Guardiola's first sentence yesterday to Rummenigge was "Wie geht es Jupp?" ("How is Jupp?" in German!)
Pep is obviously studying German right now.
Rummenigge says they know Pep for more than two years now and always have had good relations, respect etc (since the Audi Cup where Barcelona played against Bayern and two other big clubs in Munich).
For the time being, Guardiola will stay in New York and learn German there as he doesn't want to interfere in any way with Jupp Heynckes' remaining time at Bayern. Heynckes is happy about Pep as successor and holds him in very high regard. (Tomorrow around the same time, there will be another PK in Munich with Jupp Heynckes.)
Guardiola will probably take two assistants of his along and said he'd like to work together with the already existing Bayern stuff otherwise. So he won't turn everything around at Bayern. Rummenigge says Pep will likely only show up when he really takes over, that is in the summer and he won't be unveiled before that.

Hey, I was too lazy to look up the Audi Cup as there are always such weird cups between the seasons in Germany and it's been a while ago ^^

Re: Guardiola to Bayern
I do expect Muller to have a big role, but I dont think he would be used as a false 9. I think he will be used as a winger. I think Shaqiri might be used as a false 9, also Muller does not have the technical qualities to play as a false 9 , not saying his technical qualities are bad, just false 9 is a position where you should have great technical qualities imo.
