The duel : Redondo - Valderrama

Two legends from the 90′s take each other on in this infamous encounter between two South American nations. The setting is El Monumental, Buenos Aires, 1993. At stake is direct qualification for the 1994 World Cup. Captained by the eye-catching Carlos Valderrama, Colombia would end up ripping Argentina apart in a historic humiliation: 5-0. Even so, Argentina’s Fernando Redondo saw plenty of occassion to demonstrate his own considerable individual abilities.

Looking at that video Redondo only was able to make one dangerous pass whereas Valderrama made 5-6. While certainly not the only criteria for CMs, Valderrama looked like he was doing more with the ball than Redondo.
