If thats cheating the entire real madrid player who were in the wall are cheaters as well seeing as they moved the wall closer to messi than its allowed before that and after the ref told them to get back in the same place...

I see absolutely nothing wrong with moving the ball. The wall is never 10 yards out like it is supposed to be.Its almost inavariably 9 yards or less due to the wall moving in.So if the wall moves in,the player taking the freekick is well within his rights to make the distance 10 yards by moving the ball.

I think the ref probably should see to it, that the FK is taken from pretty much the point the foul occured, but I don't think it was a huge advantage. That was a pretty much perfect FK, so I can't bring myself to care too much.

It's not that classy to move the ball when the ref's not looking, though, but as has been pointed out before, if it was such a big deal, the Real players would've bitched and moaned about it as it was happening.

I'd like to think that UEFA and the individual European leagues are better than that, but it's hard to think of any other explanations. It saves time by ensuring that the players don't try to gain a meter here and there, and ensures fairness by establishing a clear position to take the FK from.

Watched the game, moved it sidewards then backwards. Could be an advantage or disadvantage.

cant see any problem with it, free kicks are rarely taken from the exact position the foul occurred and the wall always creeps forward too.

my opinion, any other player in any other game and noone woud bat an eyelid. it's basically madrid papers clutching at straws

This is one of those gray areas that not really cheating, but isn't terribly savory. The decider for me is that Messi does it directly in front of the Madrid players and not a single one complains... TBH, with the amount of movement from the walls nowadays, it's only fair that the kick-taker be allowed a little freedom of placement.

I found it hilarious when the ref catches Messi moving the ball, him and Xavi immediately starts pointing at the wall and complaining Laughing

I don't get what the problem is... everytime a freekick happens the kicker moves the ball... its very common... far, far, faaaar from cheating...

So your saying that shot should have been saved? Lol some people just make shut up to look smart? There is nothing he could have done different it was a great free kick get over it and stop blaming players that aren't responsible.

It'd not cheating if some of you actually played the sport you would know. Everyone does it and just because Madrid is down by 8 points the media has to downplay Barcelona in some way.

I bet if a Madrid paper wrote you will be a madrid legendary fan if you jump of a bridge then half of the people on this forum would be gone.

white_star - it is imposible for some RM fans to accept that other teams/players are soo good, it always must be some mistake/fault of their players, as they have the best of all.

certainly it helped him score but i wouldnt call it cheating

i blame it all to the keepers for doing that stupid shit and protecting one corner of the goal instead of staying in the middle or at least closer to it than what iker did in this case, the wall wont do all the job

against world class players like messi you would expect him to be able to target successfully in the other corner

if iker was standing closer to middle he would have saved this, and wherever the ball could have gone, either side
its not like he jumps before messi takes the shot, he wait to see where its going
so staying in the middle or at least closer to it than iker was is what it should be

so yeah maybe whoever blames iker for this goal is not wrong after all at least for me

Where the hell do you see me talking about the free kick?

Iker has been mediocre this season for his standard.

As for the free kick. Could he save it? Probably not since it's a well placed free kick.

This thread reminds me of PEPE saying, "Barca are theatre people", lol. There is a hint of jealousy from the Madrid press and their followers.

I just hope whoever started this thread has looked at all the other great freekicks in the past by the likes of ronaldo, dinho, etc. If they all took the freekicks at the exact position the foul was made, then u have a case.

Last time it was, "Casillas positioned his wall all wrong. Why didn't casillas stand a bit more to the left knowing Messi is a lefty? ".

Well Messi is a smart player. Casillas positioned himself to the left this time around and still got beat.

When will the sons of FRANCO ever learn? No Its not healthy to be a Messi hater! It messes with your mood, blood pressure, butthurt and all. Just appreciate Messi's talent and hope he doesnt perform against your team.

All this trying to get dirt on Messi just makes u appear like jealous little girls !

Anyways, Pepe and the rest of his thugs will now think twice before deliberately fouling Messi near the area banana

Watch from 1:40 - 2 :10 minutes.

Ronaldo gets fouled right on the line (where dark green grass meets light green grass). Now look where he then takes his freekick! Its like a metre or so further towards goal!!

Tha't the reality of ronaldo's amazing free kick Very Happy

saying is iker's fault isnt necesserly ment to discredit messi

we already know he is the best and it was a well taken free kick

but still for me watching where iker is standing that moment makes it feel wrong
he had bad positioning, simple as that, he tends to do it every now and then tbh iker isnt what he once was
he's been average lately

i mostly talk in general so butthurt is out of the question, but hey whatever makes you feel good! Laughing

you can take this insident as an example though,
if iker was standing in the middle would have saved any shot wherever it could go cause of the distance the set-piece is taken from
