Carl "The Hammer" Jenkinson
Seems to be a thread about every young player out there..............except Jenks. Seems only fair he gets some recognition
Before the start of the season, people thought he would crack. That he would be bullied by everyone and that he would leak goals like crazy. 6 games later and he looks to have improved by leaps and bounds during the break and shut up the critics
Sure, he's well, well short of starting over Sagna when fit, but he's handled everything that's been thrown at him comfortably and looks to be a good replacement once Sagna calls it quits.
Anyone else thinks he's a better player than he was a year ago?

English fullbacks is the way to go, and if Bould installs even more grit and steel in him I can easily see him being here for the long run.

He has got better in every game since the start of the season. Very strong defensively and now getting forward more. Passing lets him down at times but he works his ass off. Well impressed and hope he continues to develop.

Re: Carl "The Hammer" Jenkinson
Without the ball he's a rock, almost unbeatable one-on-one, positioning has improved and he's a great athlete, it's just that whenever he has the ball he puts himself and his team-mates on pressure. If he can improve his passing he can be a very good fullback in the future.

Re: Carl "The Hammer" Jenkinson
his pace today was unreal, for a second I thought it was Walcott running down the left wing.

Re: Carl "The Hammer" Jenkinson
Another gem of a signing.
Alot of Gooners including myself were sceptical as to whether he would be able to hold his own against the top teams, and some us even preferred Coquelin to be the starting RB at the beginning of the season. But all of that talk is out teh window cause he's been an absolute rock this year.

Re: Carl "The Hammer" Jenkinson
Last season too he was doing good when he a got some chances continuously.. Unfortunately he too was injured leaving us playing Kos, Djurou and Coquelin..
This season.. He showed his nerves in the first few matches when he was pressed.. He was clearing the ball blindly and making vague long passes..
Then he just stood back and defended well which got him some confidence.. he became more composed in possession and started making simple passes..
Now he started advancing forward and playing good crosses..
All this in a matter of 6 games... If he continues developing like this he will replace Sagna in a couple of years..
And i am sure the Bould effect too played its part..
I remember what Wenger said.. "You underestimate players like Jenkinson because of their price tag.."
and how much was he bought for ? 1 million ?

You'll have to pay arsenal 10 million just for them to actually take Evra.
