Italy had and still has maybe some of the best goalkeepers in the world.They deserve a thread like this where people can discuss about them and criticize them.

My personal favourite GK legends of the past are Lev Yashin, Bert Trautmann, Sepp Maier, and Dino Zoff for a reason. (Oliver Kahn is still rather recent XD)

He grew up at Brescia Primavera, then he moved to Juventus (but didn't get to play a match) and now he is on loan at Lanciano.He is a hot prospect but let time decide if he will be enough prepaired to become a no #1 goalkeeper for a team in Serie A.In my opinion it won't happen very soon.

PS. I read somewhere that Handanovic used to live in Slovenia his whole time when he was playing for Udinese. Udine is very close to the Slovenian border so he drove back and forth from Slovenia to go to training. Can someone confirm this???

This decade is probably the worst for Italy when it comes to GKs. Just 10 years ago people like Toldo, Peruzzi, Pagliuca and Buffon were all challenging for the starting spot in the national team, now if any of these current scrubs start it's because buffon is injured.

He's not eligible to start for Italy, though, and vlafy explicitly stressed the "Italian" part.
