Hulk and Witsel to Zenit

FC Porto's Hulk has been sold to Zenit St. Petersburg after both clubs agreed a deal today, according to A Bola.

A Bola are also now reporting that Zenit have signed Axel Witsel from Benfica -

Eh, I wouldn't even call it a step up from the Portuguese league. I meant more the motivations for joining by comparing it to the Saudi league. It's a league that you move to if you're an overrated scrub trying to retain some relevancy, looking for a big payday or, like you say - a stepping stone. Hulk doesn't need a stepping stone nor is he a scrub. Overrated maybe, but not a scrub.

If I remember correctly Zenit were in kind of an intresting group for the CL. If these transfers really do go down then that group just got a lot harder. Let me dig it up.

No you have to go to Russia in the winter to face them and get them coming back to your place with a very good squad. They have a good squad without Hulk and Witsel, with them, I wouldn't want to face them in a home and away tie.

For some reason I don't believe this although I know the Russian window stays open longer then the regular one.

But if it's true I say congrats to Hulk and Witsel. They are going have a russian dump truck pull up to there house and drop more money then they ever dreamed of infront of them and they have a pretty competitive side.

And for Hulk I think it's pretty obvious that no one was going to pay the fee Porto wanted for him as it's been two and a half years now and no one will bite and I think he's signed to them for a lot longer, so now he gets to go make tons of money and get his transfer. Nothing wrong with that, he's not getting any younger.
