Don't get me wrong, I like the old one but it has a few players who have moved clubs now. notably TS and RVP.

Should we make a new one which has players who currently play for Milan, Arsenal and Juve?

could we do it at the end of the transfer season?

I imagine we would run a compitition again which would last till after then.

We're not updating the banner every summer. People should have considered the possibility of players moving before deciding on this banner in the first place. Now you live with it.

Even if the banner is not changed I think this is important to consider...

We definitely did think about the possibility of players moving before deciding on this banner in the first place. We thought that Thiago Silva would be our future captain and never leave the club. We had no reason to think otherwise at that time. He was signed on a long term-contract and pledged his allegiance to the club on multiple occasions. We now live every day knowing that Bonera is now left to fill that gap. We are reminded of this awful reality every single time we look at this banner.

I'm sure it's not that hard to update the banner every summer. There was nothing to indicate that those players would permanently be on the banner when we chose them.

Also, for the sake of the forum's appearance to members and especially outsiders, it's only logical that it would be updated when a player leaves a club to project a positive image of this forum's wide knowledge-base and tradition of reporting news better and more accurately than many news sources. Having players on the banner that are not up-to date does not serve that purpose at all IMO. That should be a serious consideration, because the banner is one of the few forms of advertising for the forum, and it's important that we make the most of it. I know that when I started reading the old lithium forums instead of goal.com, it was because the quality and speed of news on the forums was so much better than goal's articles.

Notwithstanding what I've just said, it would be good to know how often the banner will be changed so that when we choose players for the banner in the future, we can make better informed decisions - not that it would've helped in Thiago Silva's case, but if we were considering other players it might've because their retirement/contract expiration was within a year's time - E.g. Gattuso, Nesta.

exactly right. although he was out of contract (unlike TS), not many people expected the captain to leave. you can't predict that

You always seem depressed/angry lol. The banner needs to change. Trust me, it sends out the wrong kind of message when we're not going to attempt to update it. How can anyone comprehend having Cristiano Ronaldo in last season's Real Madrid kit and Ryan Giggs in the 09/10 kit? It doesn't make sense...

It's not that Red is "against" it, his point is more on the consistency of the banner because it's not really appropriate to change it every 6 months or ever year just because the player left or the kit is outdated.

Why not? If you want to go for some "corporate identity", then the banner and the forum don't fit together anyway (banner black/gold, forum light blue/grey, different fonts). In that case it might be more sensible to say "Yeah, we will change it every season with the players that are en vogue then." I mean, the FIFA games etc have a new cover with each season, too.

I think they are complaining about the fact that the one wearing an Arsenal shirt no longer plays for your team.

All the best players should be on the banner imo. Like Messi, Ronaldo, Ozil, Xavi, Iniesta etc.

I'd refuse to create a banner that just contains the full Barca+Real teams
