Re: Usain Bolt wants a shot at the Premier League
well i've thought about this... What if you have a guy like Pirlo or Alonso who is deadly with long balls and you make him break the offside trap?? He's obviously way quicker than any CB in the planet, and if he can conduce the ball and finish and any semi competent way...
He might just be the key to defeat a high offensive line team like Barcelona. All of this for free obviously since no one owns his rights.

Re: Usain Bolt wants a shot at the Premier League
Beating a high defensive line requires much more than that.
The line is high because there is pressing. What use is a long passer who wont have any space to turn, look and fire a pass?
And if its the only plan, said team will have the ball 10% of the game, if not then they are going to need Bolt to be at least competant with the ball at his feet, know how to move, know where to move.
Being fast on its own has zero use.

Former Germany international David Odonkor can account for that... XDThe Franchise wrote:Being fast on its own has zero use.

Nadal actually practised football to a high level and is very good indeed.

Success breeds envy and hate, I don't have a problem with a sportsman being arrogant as long as they have the tools to back.
To succeed at the level of Usain, you need to believe that you're the best, it's this mental toughness that has made him in my opinion the greatest athlete of all time.

What hate?
All anyone said negative was he doesnt have the ability to do it.
And I on a personal level find his pre and post race antics annoying.

Well as i said, it would require a very specific and talented player like Andrea Pirlo who plays deep, has the vision and technique to not need much time and space to pull off a long pass.
Of course the more the opposing team presses and leaves Pirlo space, the more they play into his hands.
And of course theirs the big *if* Bolt has somewhat decent technique to carry and finish the ball.
Quick pacy wingers have caused all sorts of trouble to Barcelona in the past like Ronaldo and Wallcot

Re: Usain Bolt wants a shot at the Premier League
Cristiano has been locked down time and time again, dont know where you get that from.
I mean because the last 2 or 3 games he scored (but still got owned in those games) doesnt mean anything. Also, I only recall one of those goals coming from a high line too.
The Walcott "trouble" has become the most overrated thing on here. I mean, he went past Maxwell twice...Maxwell....its not exactly hard. Why doesnt anyone talk about the next game, where Abidal made him utterly invisable.

As for Pirlo. We already saw what happened vs Spain, Xavi stuck to him and he did nothing.
Against Barca it would be more of the same, except, we press better than Spain.

Bolt is trying to get into Football and Blake is trying to get into Cricket (Atleast Blake plays regularly)

I'm sure Bolt was joking about becoming a pro-footballer, he said a similar thing when he came to train with Madrid, he said it was his dream to play with Real Madrid one day and that two players he admires most are Raul and Ruud van Nistelrooy, he also said Ronaldo was built like a sprinter and he'd have trouble stopping him if he was a defender.
He already has plans of competing in the 2016 Olympics, where he'd be close to 30 years.
In a parallel universe Bolt could have been a cricket player, his first passion was cricket but his sprint talents were spotted by his headmaster and the rest is history.

Tbh also for me it would be good if Manchester United called me and said "Hey, you are 35 years old, here's a 5 year contract! Let's do it"

I am always amazed at how old, in the face, he looks.
Partying really has taken its toll on him.
