But a 50% stake in a Bundesliga club is still possible right ?
And there AFAIK, VW and Bayer aren't allowed to give up their majority as well, without the clubs being thrown out of the league.
So foreign ownership just isn't possible. It is, however, possible to inject money into a club, as with Hoffenheim, or circumvent some rules, as with RB Leipzig, though I predict that Leipzig will come under much scrutiny once they reach the 2nd flight.

Well, if Red Bull sees Leipzig as long-term investment, they can get the majority after a minimum of 20 years of continually investing into the club.VivaStPauli wrote:rwo power wrote:Only 49%. Remember, the main sponsor of Hannover 96 fought for the new ruling not too long ago and won. ATM it is if a company (or someone else) continually sponsors a club for 20 years or longer, they are allowed to get the majority. But this is done to make sure that no one can just get a club as a short-time plaything.

Top clubs buy big players all the time. Except these new rich teams are buying them all at the same time. Nothing wrong with that imo.

A lot wrong with it imo; but nothing we can do about it, and I don't think PSG or City are worse than Bayern/Real/Milan etc.

Meh it's fine, it diversifies competitition...perhaps improves it.
PSG is doing it the right way though. In the long run I think this may actually help Milan out as well.

Most the tools saying "ruined football etc" with foreign investment, irony much? Most of you are foreign to the club you support. Football is global with more and more people from different countries getting interested, it makes sense that people/businessmen from countries with crap teams and league invest in certain leagues.

Re: If you can't beat them, buy them!
how on earth do people consider what chelsea and man city are doing "investment"? both are regularly losing hundreds of millions, neither abramovich nor mansour, nor *bleep* anyone who has ever seriously "invested" in a football club will get their money back from the club within their lifetime... and it's not just foreign investment, look at milan's or inter's shocking finances
as far as i'm concerned, 2012, with chelsea winning cl and city winning epl, was the official date when football turned from a sport to the biggest dick measuring arena in the world

Yeah because bibery and match fixing hasn't been prominent before 2012? Fickle bell football hasn't been a "sport" in a long time.

Re: If you can't beat them, buy them!
nothing to do with match fixing, the simple fact is that before abramovich et al started pumping money into individual clubs to feel better about themselves and/or be less bored, the aforementioned clubs tended to be completely irrelevant
pre-takeover chelsea? as relevant as spurs
pre-takeover city? dunno, i'd say everton would be an appropriate simile but they weren't in the championship 10 years ago
pre-takeover malaga? midtable team, if that
pre-takeover psg? laughing stock of all of france
enter unearned money and boom, instant title/european contenders

Yeah you know jack about what Roman feels for the club, not going to bother with the other clubs not my problem. Bitter and butthurt Chelsea pre Roman never been irrelevant, danke.
So football doesn't die as a sport when Milan bribe ref with fiat cars in the 70/80s can't remember but it stops being a sport after 38 fair 90min matches and a whole CL campaign with teams having fair chances to win within their own ability.
Strange.

Thoughts,
Sucks. But has been around before the arabs.
Bayern, Milan, Inter, Real, ManU etc. have been doing this within their respective leagues for years, and to an extent within the continent.
For example, Bayern bought Klose, Frings, and Borowski just when Bremen started repeatedly threatening them. They hardly needed any of those three players.
We needed all of them and when we accomplished what we needed them for, we got rid of them.
There is difference from getting Arab money and buying players from both poor and rich clubs.
We earned our money and that's the basics of this thread, get you fact straight, you don't always have to find way to follow Bayern around, just because you envy us.
Re: If you can't beat them, buy them!
Who cares what these teams are doing.. They were lucky enough to get 'blessed' by a sugar daddy, a lot of clubs wish they were in their position

Look, some of you people on here are so ignorant. Let me say I'm the last person to cry racism at any event but some of you seriously need to get over your hatred towards Arabs.
American's just bought Liverpool and spent a bunch of money and the same goes for Roma. United is owned by Americans.
Rich Italians own most of the successful Italian clubs.
Russian Billionaires have bought clubs and use the same tactics.
It's like a lot of you on here believe if your white and bought a club before a certain date then the same behaviour the Arabs are displaying now was OK then but because there not white and there doing it now instead of a decade or two ago it's "ruining football".
And for whatever reason if a club had more history like a Roma or Liverpool then they can have a rich person buy them but if it was a small club with not much history the rules change and they should be small forever.
It is the height of hypocrisy and racism. Also people on here talk like Arab
's and "oil money" is Dirty or something or like they don't deserve the money.
You would be stunned if you saw how most of the new Russian and American and Asian billionaires earned there money but for some reason it's the oil money that gets people mad. It's pathetic and small minded and again totally racist.
Also, why don't you start getting mad at the mismanagement of your club for losing players not the "Arab money." No one is forcing you to sell to them. Look at Bayern they sell when they want to, not because they have been mismanaged.
And we wont even get into the threads on here where people who support European teams think they should still have the right to rob South America blind for there talent and when they don't give up there players for cheap there called insane or greedy or overpricing there players.
Here's a news flash the most over priced players in the world are born and breed in England so to call the South American's greedy etc like I have seen on here is such a joke when Teams like Internaciaonal, Sao Paulo, Santo's etc etc just want the same amount of money for the Oscar's, Damiao's, Neymar's, Lucas' etc etc as English teams get for the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Andy Carrol, James Milner etc.
