Mata flopped pretty badly in the knockout rounds and was benched throughout the Euros.

Lampard, Cole, Torres, Drogba & Cech all deserved their places in my opinion. But if you were going to remove one of them for another Chelsea player it would have been Torres for Ramires the Barca killer.

Mata did not flop against Napoli nor against Benfica.

Defensive tactics do not suit his game. I'm assuming you're talking about the Barca & Bayern ties.

Mario Gomez still had an impressive season in the end. Actually, team success wise, only Iker,Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos had perfect seasons amongst top players, all the other Major contenders choked at some point or the other in the race for team success, some more than others obviously, but individually many forwards had brilliant seasons for the stats fanatics(Messi, Ronaldo, Gomez, RVP,Falcao,etc...)
Doubt Ramos or Alonso will even make it to top5 anyway, so unless Iker breaks a trend it will come down to the normal 2 way battle in the end; our 'favouritist' football showdown - Midget vs Prima Donna.

@ Dost: What do you think of the Ibra and T.Silva sales, and who do you think is needed to challenge in SERIE A, cuz I don't see you challenging in Europe in light of the numerous departures and lack of quality replacements, apparently Cassano might leave alongwith possibly Robinho, and Pato continues to be injury prone before making it to the pitch.
