Can anyone say what system zidane used with castilla. tactics, formation etc. I don't have access to castilla matches.

I am just curious as he may just be the first team coach next season.

I am trying to imagine what style he plays.

85% of the squad was new and the best players went with the club to US preseason since we had no bodies after WC... so basically no preseason for Castilla before competition with all new players.  Very slow start after which we were on absolute fire and got to first place.  Of course, Flo bought Odegaard that benched a midfielder that had no business being benched...  and Odegaard refused to train with Castilla lol.  He just played the games (badly mostly).  So we lost momentum and finished the season poorly as our midfield fell apart. Injuries to Medran and others hurt too.

Castilla and Madrid C are not really set up to win games tbh.  The goal is to develop players.  So you don't see moves/player choices that are optimized for winning necessarily.  Zidane developed a lot of the players so he did his job. Promotion was never the primary objective.

I personally don't think he'll become the Madrid coach next season.  But i am 99.9% certain that he will coach somewhere (likely France).  He got his diploma last week so that's out of the way.

okay thanks, not a follower of castilla just wanted someone to shed some more info on the situation over there and what morale's been like. as for zizou, i've never bought into this idea of making him first team coach just like that, there's a lot more to learn about the trade, especially at an institution like madris. i don't know how he handled that odegaard situation, but i reckon it gave a little insight on him not being ready yet with respect to some of the egos here at the first team. i believe he still has more stripes to earn

He had nothing to do with it.  Flo agreed to a contract where Odegaard was only obligated to practice with the Madrid senior squad... and that's what Odegaard did.  Stupid on both sides tbh.  Nothing Zidane could do about it.

Like Bale and Carlo...  Zidane couldn't bench Odegaard.... although unlike Carlo, he went ahead and took him out early in the 2nd half of most games and eventually benched him some.  That couldn't have made Uncle Flo happy.

Zidane knows Madrid like no other.  It's more about being able to handle the politics, which he did fine as a Director with the club in Mou's first and second year...  but in the end, he wanted to be on the pitch and not just politics = he went for coaching.

In today's game, most of the actually coaching is handled by the assistants.  SAF was like that his last 5 years at Man U and Laurent Blanc is the same at PSG.  The coach is more a motivator, man manager, psychologist and media handler.

its still too early for him in my opinion, i'd like to see him try his hands elsewhere first...i mean, its not like he's a better coach than ancelotti and a couple of others out there (at least not yet), and we're still yet to see him in a high pressure situation at least from a coaching standpoint when the likes of marca/as, fans and players start getting on one's nerves...not to mention, a president that can sell a player he likes when he feels he wants to buy a new toy...and whilst assistants are a key cog in regiments, its not like the coach is some figurehead , he still has a lot to do, and i reckon there's still time for zidane to get engaged with more philosophies....any idea what style or styles he likes to employ at castilla?

He's a Pep Guardiola fan... talks about him all the time lol. Zizou believes in possession football.

Real Madrid C is being dissolved. Why?

What are the implications? What will happen to all those players?

we are probably the only team in the world who have a b and c team. This is long overdue. it's not getting dissolved per say but merging with the b team instead. So alot more players to choose from for our coach

Some news regarding Castilla

Derik Osede has left Castilla and signed for Bolton
Benavente has left Castilla and signed for MK Dons ( scratch )
Diego Llorente has been loaned out to Rayo Vallecano (excellent choice)
Burgui has been loaned out to Espanyol (excellent choice again)

Not convinced about Mayoral but Asensio looks first team worthy. He will likely get loaned out while Mayoral will play for Castilla

Much better attitude from Odegaard. Still needs to get stronger and do better in defence but the effort is there albeit in glimpses. Very good game from him. He should also be a little more selfish sometimes, he is too generous always looking to play a team mate in rather than shoot himself. Mayoral with 2 goals too. So far team is looking solid but we played a promoted team and not a tough team

Well Odegaard is 16 and has really stepped up his attitude this season and showing his stuff. He's pretty much on par already with Asensio and Asensio is 19... he's got 3 years on him.

But i've seen this before in Zelalem with Arsenal. It means nothing until you make it to the senior squad. All it does is that it gives him more time to develop.

Another 2-1 win with Mayoral scoring both goals infront of the prensent Benitez

Odegaard on the other hand never really got going and was subbed at ht. I don't think he enjoys himself with Castilla, if that's the case he needs to go somewhere else so that he can develop and not get pulled every game

meh...  1600 mins and 3 or 4 assists or something like that.  No goals.  For a supposed offensive mid, he's stagnated big time.  Diaz, Mayoral and Fabas are the main attacking force.

Fabas has been on fire lately.
