Re: Chelsea 2012 Official Pre-Season thread
So Lucas Piazón all but confirmed on his Twitter that he's one of those coming along on the pre-season tour (as if we didn't already know he would be ). Here's to hoping he gets some game-time.
On a separate note, I'm proud to announce that I've caved in and purchased tickets to our game vs MLS All-Stars on the 25th. I was trying to avoid spending the $300+ I should be using on 'more important' things, but was I ever reeeally gonna be able to resist?

Chelsea Youth @chelseayouth
RT @fabianodesouza: - @LucasPiazon will spend pre-season with @ChelseaFC in the USA. He could make his professional debut vs Seattle.

He should have debuted last year.

Eh, not necessarily. With the critical situation we were in for the entire second half of last season, taking a risk by putting him in wasn't really reasonable. He obviously wasn't gonna appear in any CL matches (if he was even eligible to in the first place), there weren't really any FA Cup matches he could have appeared in, and with every Prem game being a must-win in our then-pursuit of a Top 4 place, there was no feasible opportunity for him.
He'll probably appear in CO Cup matches next year, and maybe a few late substitute Prem appearances or so (unlikely), but he's still only 18 we mustn't forget.

Yeah I don't think he should have debuted.he got called up last year which was good enough.he should definitely debut this year and play a couple of official matches this season though.he could also go on loan or something

Re: Chelsea 2012 Official Pre-Season thread
What about the last game of the season?
I would have played both Kane and Piazon.

I'll be in Miami for the AC Milan match. Perfect timing for me as I'm going home on the 1st of August.

He had to use that game to give players who hadn't played in weeks a run-out so they didn't go into the Final a week later too raw. Like when he started with Malouda, Robbie knew that due to our suspensions, he might be needed as a sub in the Final and wanted to give him some playing time. And when he took him off, he unexpectedly put in Ferreira (when we all thought Piazon for sure would make a substitute appearance), Robbie knew with our defensive suspensions and BOTH centerbacks coming off lengthy hamstring injuries, Paulo might have needed to be called upon if someone in the backline came off injured.
So yea, at the time it seemed foolish not to give Lucas his debut in such a meaningless game, but RDM was indeed using it as an experimental sort of thing.

Haha! You're leaving just in time, I'd say. Won't be long now before the rancorous, hyper-partisan political vitriol is spewing out of every TV, newspaper and radio ad. Especially down where you are.
Best to leave whilst your sanity is still intact

Doesn't look like it. He's just so young still.Barrettinator wrote:That's good. Dunno if Feruz is going as well.
Other than that, George Saville will be along as well.
So that's Piazon, Bamford, Saville, and apparently Toddy Kane from what I've been reading, along with Hutch of course. Only noticeable youth absence is Chalobah, due to, as we all know, his involvement in England's now-failed U-19 Championship campaign...

Cahlobah is probably too young too.
Why are we taking Saville though? I doubt he will ever make the first team, the others have a chance to but not him.

No, not at all. He went on last year's tour if I'm not mistaken.
