Re: Group C: Spain vs Italy discussion
You guys are just a bunch of fking retards lol .... What did Torres do wrong lol !?!?!?!? First ocassion Buffon did a wonderful job and didnt fall on the ground like any other goalie would do .... and the second chance was that chip ... he had two defenders in his face and Buffon was coming out of the goal , he did great taking down one defender to create that chip wich was a little bit unlucky .... would Negredo and Lorrente come in and create those chances themselves or would they expect to get served , ffs the hate with torres is strong here .

Re: Group C: Spain vs Italy discussion
Fabregas,Biscuits & Alonso are not World Class Midfielders however good they are.
I thought Silva & Iniesta were the one's with most penetration. I have always maintained that Iniesta is Spain's best player. Apart from his dives,as a player I really admire him. Great player.
Xabi + Busi IMO are USELESS together & 1 should play with Xavi. And a real ST should play. You saw the chances got created when Torres came & guy like Navas gave width.
Spain need a RW because Arbeloa is not good at attacking & a ST.
Alonso and Biscuits both play very deep & dont contribute a huge bit to the attack.

Whats funny, is that I am willing to bet that Torres feels like he should be starting. I'm waiting for him to complain

Torres really wasnt that bad. I think if he was on longer Spain would have had more chances (maybe not Torres, but his presence opens up space for everyone else)

Ive seen very little of Marchisio. But what a beast man. What a player. I thought he was over-rated & hyped because Juventus won the league.

Yeah he has quality in every aspect of his game. As we like to call him, he is a Jack of all Trades. Helps out everywhere and pops up in good spaces.

Completely agree with this. VDB went with midflield over kill. Look how much the attack changed when a proper striker and winger were brought on

He scored though. I think he'll start again because of that
Also windkick that wasn't the "striker effect", Italy were tired as hell - just look at Motta he was exhausted lol

What you on about?..... Pirlo was much more impressive than Xavi..... created Italy's goal and actually created chances unlike Xavi who just passed it backwards and sideways all game.
Iniesta was the true GOAT of the game.
Anyway great game and for once one that lives up to the hype.

DDR and Gigi were beasts for Italy aswell.
Xavi, Busquets, Ramos and Alonso Just not their best game today.
ok...let me explain it so u understand why this happen...
Xavi, Busquests & Alonso share the same midfield with Pirlo...
Pirlo controls games & there is no one in the world who can do it better...
It has been that way since every since, hence him getting the best OVERALL performance vs France 2006 even when Zidane was on the field...
He threw all of them off their game...
And Ramos was just...well
Ramos

Crack of a match.
Iniesta was hands down GOAT of the match.Xavi,Casillas and silva stand out too for Spain. While DDR,Pirlo,Marchisio,Di natale and gigi stand out for Italia.
Torres and Baloteli flops of the match, both equally

Re: Group C: Spain vs Italy discussion
Anyone else think that Spain's team selection looked like a 10 year-old selecting a team on Fifa? "These players are good. I'll play all of them at once."
In all seriousness, they seemed to have many of the same problems that Barca did against Chelsea in the Champions League. For long stretches, they enjoyed controlled pressure just outside of Spain's box. However, they lacked the incisive movement of a traditional striker, or even a wide-forward, to create real goal-scoring chances. Normally, when you use a false9, you also employ at least one wide-forward who has an eye for goal. Barca typically use David Villa (when fit), Pedro and Alexis Sanchez to fill this role. That way, when Messi receives the ball in deeper positions, he has someone making the incisive runs that he can play the ball to for a chance. Without a real goal-scorer, you run the risk of becoming complacent and focused on keeping possession.
Luckily for VDB, he's got two more games in the group stages to play around with the formation before the knockout stages. Italy, on the other hand, showed that they are capable of competing with the favorites in the tournament. Granted, VDB (aka: "How many midfielders did I bring to Poland?" and "I wonder if Fabregas can play goal.") played right into their 3-at-the-back system. It will be interesting to see how Italy cope with real wide players against Croatia and Ireland. I would still be shocked if they didn't make it to the knockout stages.
