Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago seems to be pushing himself out of the club after declaring Barcelona are far superior to his side.

The Argentine midfielder is expected to leave the club in the summer after several injuries in the past two seasons restricted him to just a peripheral role at the club.

Gago recently indicated he would not make a decision on his future before talking to coach Jose Mourinho, but his latest remarks will certainly not go down well at Real Madrid, as he praised his club's arch-rivals.

"Barcelona are the best team in history. They are well above Real Madrid and the fans do not want to admit it," Gago told ESPN Argentina.

Gago, who moved to Real Madrid in 2006 for €20.4 million, has been linked with a move to his former club, Boca Juniors.

Because even the strongest team can be dethroned, in theory.

I think it saying the "fans do not want to admit it" is like giving up without a fight.
Its basically saying that since FCB are better than us, we should not be blamed for losing against them. Despite the gulf in ability not being that huge. Especially since weak teams defeat stronger teams every day.

Gago is humble and respectful.

mine, you can admit your rival are better than yours

but in the same time, you should work harder or work smarter to compete with them in the next season

admitting defeat before the match is no way to begin working harder. I think Gago is just angry for not getting enough playing time. And with this attitude, I can see why.

self admitting is of course, another thing. However, it also needs to be a positive admittance i.e "my rival is better than me now, but if I bust my ass off, I bet I could defeat him"

hes got the class to play to start for an upper mid table side every week right now and if given game time the potential to be one of the best in the world
ATM though he's the perfect squad player for RM and as far as anyone at RM is concerned he's doing a good job off the bench and thus they wont let him leave
so the only way he'll ever get out of RM to get the game time he deserves is when his contract experiences or if he can force his way out of the club, and clearly he's taking the latter option
