But seeing as how the 3-5-2 has come up I think it's interesting to compare it to Martinez's version of the 3-4-3.

Like I said before in the 3-5-2 the width is provided by the wing backs. But in the 3-4-3 there are already two wide attacking players who get supported by the wing backs pushing up. It's much harder to stop imo.

Indeed. And another reason why its viable in the PL, is you wont get 2 v 1's down the flanks on defence.

That often is a problem with 3 at the back varients, 2 v 1 down the flank naturally happen. But the way Wigan play it, they do a good job of not allowing it.

The you clearly haven't seen Ranieri's teams.

Even when he fields a different formation somehow it's still a 4-4-2.
