Essien prime vs Yaya

Essien, I think he was even better at Lyon, he redefined the Box to Box role, a shame he's now a pale shadow of his former self, injuries haven't been at all kind to him.

Essien was not a DM, was forced to play that role when Makelele left Chelsea, he is a box to box midfielder, driving the game from one end to another and delivering at both ends of the pitch.

Essien was a frakking beast at his prime. Him and Juninho carried that Lyon team to so much success. Essien takes this one easily for me.

I agree, maybe because hes tired,hel get a rest after the season finishes might be better next season in terms of keep up energy levels

i think essien plays the dm role a LOT better, but yaya plays the b2b better by a bit
imo.

so overall id take essien.

as for who i would rather have on my team- prime essien, madrid are in more need of a player like that than yaya right now

I do not remember Essien in his prime because it only lasted half a season

TBH I would take prime Essien over basically anything except prime Ballack and Frings.

I agree with most Essien work rate so much superior although on Yaya side I think his technical attributes maybe some what better.

But oh boy was it a shame to see Barton skin him on Sunday....

Essien, if he was in his prime right now, we would be in such a better position.

Everyone knows how much I like Yaya but to surprise everyone I too would take Essien. Not by much but in his prime he was easily a top 5 player in the world.

The problem is that his prime didn't last very long because of injuries and it sucks because he really was great to watch. I really haven't see a player like him since and the Yaya is a very different player.

And since we are saying in his prime you have to go with Essien although this question isn't taking into account that Yaya is an absolute Tank that just doesn't get hurt so it's a little unfair but Essien in his prime was unmatched at what he did.
