Who here thinks Barca misses Ronaldinho..
..when it comes to set-pieces and penalties?
Personally, I consider Xavi and Messi to be about average at best when it comes to direct-freekicks, with all due respect. Sure, they do actually score once in a while, but hey, even a broken clock is correct twice a day. IMO, Barca are just too darn wasteful when it comes to taking set-pieces. Just look at today's example, even Chelsea fans got on their feet overcome with excitement when their team got their first corner of the game. However, with Barca, I will be like "meh" from both corners and direct free-kicks.
By the way, don't make me start about Alves.
What say thee?

Re: Who here thinks Barca misses Ronaldinho..
Pens?
Dinho probably missed as many as Messi.
We dont have many aerial threats, so corners dont even matter. Anyone can put crosses in and we still wouldnt score many.
Freekicks yes I agree, but Xavi has scored some this season and Messi has shown improvement since his first started taking them.
For example, his free kick did create a chance for Puyol in this game.

They missed a van Bommel type to be able to bully certain opponents.

I doubt that. Ronaldinho exuded confidence when it came to penalties. However, with Messi, you always look away or bite your nails because you are never too sure.

Point taken...
However, I still do not think Barca knows how take corners. Take today fro example, most of the corners only reached the first man...WTF?
Freekicks yes I agree, but Xavi has scored some this season and Messi has shown improvement since his first started taking them.
Both of them do not hold a candle to Ronaldinho's free-kick abilities. Teams were actually scared of Barca on direct free-kick situations when Ronaldinho played, but now, not so much.
For example, his free kick did create a chance for Puyol in this game.
As I said earlier, a broken clock...

Yes, Dinho gave you more confidence I agree. But I bet statistically, they arent that much different.
Agree about crners, but I actually would prefer in games like this we not even cross them in. Especially early.
We crossed them in 80% of the time it is headed out, 50% of the time from that it falls to a Chelsea player and every now and again they counter attack when we have men out of position, especially defensive players.

Puyol always seems to make good use of corners. He knows how to free himself of his marker and get to a position in which he can hit the ball into the back of the net.
