Shelvey, Spearing and Henderon as 3 in the middle. Carroll relegated to right centre bench.
Rest Stevie PLEASE. The league is done, and he's played through a lot just coming back from an injury recently. Not to mention the amount of times he's been rushed back under Rafa and Roy.

Re: Mediocrepool vs. Aston Villa
To be honest, we are already in a crisis of confidence. It was painfully obvious against Newcastle. Once we didn't score after a stint of pressure early on, we looked absolutely deflated. We don't necessarily need to dominate possession against Villa, but we need to score early. Any kind of goal will do, we just need that little confidence boost. The last thing I want to see is the score level with 15 or so minutes left. At that point, the Liverpool players (and supporters) will undoubtedly be waiting for someone to make a mistake, conceding a soft goal for the winner.halamadrid2 wrote:you lose and your definitely in some sort of crisis... this game is unlosable(is that even a word)

Re: Mediocrepool vs. Aston Villa
Aston Villa have actually lost only four league away games this season, only Manchester United have less away defeats (1).
Villa have also got the highest number of away draws, eight, while we have got the highest number of home draws, also eight.
So... Well. Let's see how it goes...

Re: Mediocrepool vs. Aston Villa
Shelvey needed to play further up front, he was used as CDM while on the field. That man has got a bit of creativity in him and has an instinct for goals.
I guess that was my biggest annoyance about the match...
and, oh yeah, the referee had an absolute shocker, it reached beyond funny and that's quite an accomplishment.

Re: Mediocrepool vs. Aston Villa
Happy with the performance, result is bad.
Players never gave up which is good.
Shelvey + Henderson dominated the midfield the whole game, though a Shelvey mistake did gift them possession for their goal. Jonjo has to be unfit as he keeps getting sub'd off.
Gerrard's crossing is amazing.
Agger is back.
Doni did okay in possession, but was bad in the air. Should of did better when they scored. If Reina did that 'clearence', the media would have been all over it.
Kuyt had a horrid game, and will have to put this game behind him. He should of put us 1-0 up, but if the linesman and ref don't feel as if it crossed the line you need to play on. Looked like his confidence died that after that then fluffed a chance from 2 yards out.
Downing put in one cross for Kuyt to score.... then went missing until he was subbed off.

Re: Mediocrepool vs. Aston Villa
Glad to see there were finally some positive notes on a match. I saw we were able to claw back for a goal, and heard of some (shall we say interesting?) referee decisions.
I wasn't able to see much after the early Villa goal (which was a combination of blind luck and a small lapse in marking/recovery), but hearing we didn't meltdown and actually fought our way back to level is wonderful. Hopefully, that small reward for their determination can boost confidence before the next two fixtures.

Re: Mediocrepool vs. Aston Villa
Having just watched the highlights, I thought we looked good on all parts of the game. Unlucky to not have more goals, it genuinely didn't even seem like a failure in finishing, just a good game from Given + some missed penalty shouts + some goals that weren't counted.
