Re: Gaston Ramirez of Bologna
Rodgers has come out and said he hopes to sign one player before leaving for their preseason tour next week, maybe two.kiranr wrote:
Hard to believe Liverpool are not involved in any negotiations now and considering these are the major rumours doing the rounds, i think there is something in it.
Probably they want to confirm only when the talks are at an advanced stage.

Hard to imagine Gaston Ramirez isn't one of those given the rumors going around. However, it would seem that the club is generally doing a much better job of disinformation/playing things close to the chest than they have in recent windows. In any case, I'm excited to see who we've been targeting if not Ramirez.

I wouldn't be surprised if G. Ramirez ended up signing for us. He'd fit the bill perfectly. Plus he would have two other Uruguayans in the team. Might still not fancy living in Liverpool, though.

Thought for a long time that Ramirez would go to Napoli.... still do.
Although if Liverpool were interested at some point he would be a fantastic signing.

Fun player to watch. Kind of sad to see big Italian sides just watching gems like these go by, whereas like 8 years ago he would have been bought right away.

Red-O when there are transfer rumours about players signing for Liverpool (actually, that was about the transfer budget the owners had provided.) from twatter or random English tabloids: "Pure speculation, we don't know what's really going on."
Red-O when there are rumours of a particular transfer to Liverpool not happening after all from sources proven to be accurate in the past: "So much for that suggestion (in this thread) that a deal was done in May."
Fixed that for you.

And for those saying, "There's just too much speculation for the Ramirez links not to be true" I have just two words: Juan Mata.

Re: Gaston Ramirez of Bologna
In my experience as a Newcastle fan ( probably has no relation what so ever but what ever)
The more linked someone is to a club, the less likely it is that it will actually happen.
Insecure Surag? i have said nothing but good things in this thread and i could'nt care less if Liverpool or anyone else make good signings or not if they do then more power to them.
All i was saying in the past is that i don't think they will make CL this season.

Of course they need to buy quality players.... but those players need to want to join.... there has been many players who Liverpool have wanted who have turned them down.
Diame turned them down for West Ham ffs, Elm turned them down to stay at AZ, Hoilett has turned them down etc etc.
Liverpool have not been in the CL or even involved in the discussion for CL for ages now and its showing in what players they can attract.
All those signings people speak of are mere fantasy

I admit i was trolling there lol..... but the main thing behind it all was i don't believe they can attract the players needed to finish 4th.
At least this season anyway.

But I think Liverpool can buy players that have good potential. Like how Newcastle got Tiote, Cabaye, Santon etc.

Probably.... but is that enough for them? we wont even finish in the top 6 season next season and it will still be a success.
Liverpool not so much.... anyways i'm going to stop now before Red comes in and reminds us to keep it on topic lol.

If we do buy Dempsey (or Afellay) as rumored, there's very little chance that we would pursue Ramirez. If we don't get either of them, it's conceivable that we could still be in for Ramirez.
There's just so much speculation surrounding LFC's transfers right now due to the absolute blackout from Rodgers and his staff.
It's both frustrating and exciting to be an LFC supporter atm.

Re: Gaston Ramirez of Bologna
We're in for Borini and Joe Allen. We're obviously buying for the future and buying players that could help us with time on their side. Ramirez fits in there.
Really hope we don't sign Dempsey. He'd want over 80k a week and he'd only play for 2 years max. And he plays in Gerrard's role. I'd rather we keep Aquilani and/or play Shelvey there too.

I don't get it either, but perhaps a reference to Bologna's late 2 - 3 goal @ AS Roma?

Re: Gaston Ramirez of Bologna
He featured against us in a 30min cameo or so.
Had one defense splitting pass which almost resulted in a goal.
Was anonymous from that point. Our midfield basically neutralized him.
Looking back now, it really seems like a stupid move from his point of view.
