Clichy
It looks like we are really interested in the services of Arsenal LB Gael Clichy...
If we are to get him he will cost around 8-10 million...
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Gael-Clichy-is-7m-Arsenal-target-for-Roma-who-want-to-sell-Mirko-Vucinic-to-Tottenham-article750296.html
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally i don't know why we are even after him ..We already have a good LB in Riise..Makes no sense ....Should be looking to get a new RB instead..That money would be better spent on Isla. ffs

Re: Clichy
risse would probably play in the left side of midfield... he would be an excellent addition to the squad..

Re: Clichy
If we're going to a 4-3-3....Riise won't be playing on the left as we won't really have a left sided flank player other than the winger.
He'll be duking it out with Clichy for the LB spot and if you ask me, I'm quite ok with that. Riise has had virtually no competition for his spot since he came here. He's looked a bit complacent at times and I think the risk of losing his spot to a younger player of Clichy's quality could force him to kick it up a notch.
It's a win-win for us either way.

Re: Clichy
Word is that Riise is on his way out, Clichy to be the starting LB with Crescenzi as a sub. I don't mind Clichy, but I don't understand this move. We have other problems than need to be addressed much more than the situation at LB. I don't see why Riise and Crescenzi wouldn't do.

Re: Clichy
Yeah Clichy rather stay in England and wants to join Liverpool. I think we're going to be pulling out of this race pretty soon. We've only offered 8.5 million euros which was short of Arsenal's 12 million euro price tag.

Re: Clichy
Clichy - Juan - Burdisso - Cassetti
or
Riise - Juan - Burdisso - ? (Isla)
Make your pick. The first one is probably more effective when defending, the second one (with Isla) is probably more attack minded, if Riise plays to his full potential.

I prefer the second one mainly because Isla's in it ...
If we aren't to buy a new RB ,what would think of Cicinho coming back..I know he's isn't great at defending but in attack he's pure quality..

Crescenzi I believe could play on both sides, so I would go with him. I wouldn't be surprised if Cicinho sticks around though.

Well if I'm to believe the latest rumours we will be going for Jose Angel of Sporting Gijon ....Costs around 4-5 million...
He should keep Riise on his toes anyways...
Balzaretti is good but he would cost to much ..You know what Zamp is like ...30 million most likely ...

Re: Clichy
With Clichy out of the picture. I haven't really seen any other options that we've been linked with for LB. This means Riise will surely stay as well so that's always a good thing.

Re: Clichy
Ah really? Thought he was fine with Gijon. I wonder why Barca are backing off of him though...
Either way...I've not seen much of him, but he appears to be exactly the type full-back Enrique wants: attack-minded, but responsible defensively. Remains to be seen whether he can unhinge Riise from the start position should we sign him.

Well Sabatini supposedly wants to keep Crescenzi around to be a back up, so Riise might actually be leaving. Still a little early to tell I guess. I would really like to keep Riise, he can even serve as an emergency Center Back which he's done before.
