Attacking stats condemn Juventus
Juventus’ fragility in attack has been underlined today by two sets of statistics in the Gazzetta dello Sport and La Stampa.
The Old Lady are struggling to score goals and the Gazzetta has made that perfectly clear on Wednesday morning.
According to the pink paper, Juventus have had 172 shots on target so far this season – the most in the Division – but have scored just 39 times. That’s a conversion rate of one goal every 4.4 shots.
La Stampa, meanwhile, highlights that leaders Milan have had 157 shots on target and collected 55 goals in the process – a conversion rate of 2.8.
La Stampa has also revealed how few goals Juventus’ attackers have contributed to the League cause so far this season.
Juve’s strikers have grabbed a combined 16 goals thanks to the efforts of Alessandro Matri, Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella.
That means that just 41 per cent of the team’s goals have been netted by their forward players – only Novara, Catania and Udinese have lower percentages than that.
A total of 17 Bianconeri League goals have come from the midfield – with Claudio Marchisio and Simone Pepe grabbing six and five respectively so far.
