Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie admits Manchester City defender Kolo Toure was a huge influence when he was still with the Gunners.

Van Persie remains grateful for the support the Ivorian offered him when he joined the Club in 2004.

"I'll always remember what he did for me when I first arrived at Arsenal," Van Persie told the Official Arsenal Matchday Programme.

"On my first day here, he said to me 'Robin, you can see me as your older brother. If you have anything you want to ask, or if anything is wrong, come to me. I know how you feel, I was new too, so come to me.'

"It's things like that you never forget. So I rate him as a great player, but behind that there is a great person too."

If only AW had sold Gallas instead of Toure... Sad

A side story from that article.

Egg-cellent attitude

ROBIN VAN PERSIE says he knew he had a winner’s mentality when he was just five years old.
And it was all because of an Easter egg hunt that ended in tears.
RVP recalled: “My mum organised it for me and my school friends. I think there were about 10 of us and we all had to go off and find eggs.
“Except I didn’t find one. I was so upset that I cried and cried.
“I told my mum she had to go and buy another Easter egg and let me try and find it on my own.
“She did and, thankfully, after about three minutes I found it and was so happy.
“It’s a funny story but with a serious point. Looking back I see that as a sign that I just would not accept failure.
“I had to succeed and I think that attitude has help pushed me to where I am today.”

Is it true Wenger and Mancini did not shake hands?

AW finished by toying with #MCFC. Asked if result was revenge for City signing #AFC players, he said: 'maybe they want some more'.

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that the first-team squad will once again be travelling to Malaysia to play a match in Kuala Lumpur in July.

The Gunners will be visiting for the second consecutive year, following their successful summer Asia tour in July 2011, during which the Club played matches in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Hangzhou, China.

After arriving in Kuala Lumpur, the first-team squad will take part in an open training session in the Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, on Monday, July 23, an event which was attended by over 30,000 people last year.

On Tuesday, July 24, Arsenal will play a match against a Malaysia XI, once again in the Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, kick off 9.45pm local time.

The visit to Malaysia is the first leg of Arsenal’s 2012 Tour. After the match in Kuala Lumpur, the Gunners will be travelling to China to play against Manchester City in Beijing on Friday, July 27. The team will then visit Hong Kong for a match against Kitchee FC on Sunday, July 29.

When Aaron Ramsey replaced Yossi Benayoun on Sunday it’s fair to say that there was a rumbling of discontent as expectant punters voiced concern at Wenger’s decision to overlook the pace of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in favour of playing the Welshman out of position on the left again.

While any frustrated mutterings were quickly drowned out by boos for Samir Nasri as he too left the field, you can’t help but think that if Mikel Arteta hadn’t smashed home a winner the decision could have stolen the headlines. Thankfully we’ll never know…

All the same, speaking to the Arsenal official matchday programme ahead of Sunday’s win over City, Ramsey reflected on his deployment on the wing in recent weeks and the job he’s been asked to do by Wenger.

“The boss just asked me to drift, get on the ball and into little pockets,” explained the Welsh captain.

“That’s what I’ve tried to do, and I think I played well at Everton – where we were definitely better on the day than at QPR.”

Having had four clear cut chances at Goodison Park to score as well as countless others during the season, it has been pretty obvious that when it comes to keeping his head in front of goal Ramsey still has some work to do.

Indeed, so bad has his shooting been that Arsenal are thought to be seriously considering protective netting for supporters near the North Bank corner flags knowing a potential law suit is just one wild swing of his badly tattooed leg away…

Admitting as much (before THAT miss in injury-time against City) the youngster continued: “I certainly had some chances up there but it’s not just at Everton – I’ve had a few! I’ve been getting into the positions, but one thing I need to improve on is my composure in front of goal.

“It’s so frustrating because I really should be putting the ball away. “I think I could have easily reached double figures this season if I’d taken my chances, but I’ll learn from it and I’m sure it’ll click soon.”

Arseblog News keeps its collective fingers crossed for Aaron. As they say in Cardiff: “lllllllllyyyyyynnnnnn nnnnyyyyyylllllll lllly lllln lllllyyyyyn lllllllllyyyyynnnnnlllllyyyy Charlotte Church lllllyyyynnnnlllll lllln llllyyynnn nllllyyn ”

I didn't even notice his leg was tattooed O.O

Piers Morgan challenges Samir Nasri to a charity bet.

If Arsenal lift a trophy before Moneybags Shitty then Nasri donates 10,000 to charity and vice versa for Morgan.

Nasri replies with something to the effect of "Manchester City are 10 points ahead of Arsenal, support your team and get over me." And then he says that he's "sure" he'll lift a trophy with City before Arsenal lift one.
