Chelsea's CB pairing?
Re: David Luiz
But he needs to be consistently solid! Not just "on his day."Kick wrote:I won't be, on his day there are very few better and if he has a solid world cup, we'll keep him.

Re: David Luiz
How many centre backs are consistently solid, as solid as DL4 can be?
Football has a real lack of top CB's right now, we'd be crazy to sell him.

That's the usual argument. "On his day" - seemingly ignoring the fact that those 'days' come along 1 game in every 10 or 12.

well let's hope you guys sell him then , and keep Cahill-Ivanovic as your mains CB.Shed wrote:That's the usual argument. ^ And there's Luiz Fanboy Argument #2. 'He might be dogshit 9 games out of every 10 now, but in a few years, he'll be the BESTESTEST CENTER-HALF IN THE WORLD!!!!1!1!!'

Re: David Luiz
dogshit 9 out of 10 games means season over any EPL team. Few years? How many years are few. He should go to less competitive leagues like La Liga where there is greater margin for error and points. He can be a Mario Balotelli for a CB - Best & Crazy on any given day.Shed wrote:^ And there's Luiz Fanboy Argument #2. Re: David Luiz
Chelsea F.C. doesn't seem too keen on selling David Luiz, so, no, we're not selling David Luiz. We are not a selling club like you guys.Bénin wrote:well let's hope you guys sell him then , and keep Cahill-Ivanovic as your mains CB.Shed wrote:That's the usual argument. And the preferred CB partnership is Terry-Cahill. Ivanovic is first choice RB and even if Chelsea were to run on opinions of GL members and sell Luiz, we would immediately buy a replacement for him.

Re: David Luiz
I still want to see a creative CB (someone of Luiz's creative quality) next to Terry. If Mourinho continues to feel that Luiz is a liability, then please sell him and buy someone else.

Re: David Luiz
creative CB? I have n't heard that before. CB position is not for creativity , but for positional awareness and no nonsense defending. e.g. Varane, Puyol.
Only way Luiz can bring in creative quality is by not playing as CB, but as DM which I think best suites him. Don't get me wrong. I like Luiz.

Re: David Luiz
If you compare Terry/Cahill and Luiz you can easily see that Luiz is more "creative", not rigid like the former. That creativity is what I'd like to go next to Terry.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho plays down fresh speculation linking David Luiz with a January move to Barcelona:

"Everything is clear. He's our player and we are happy he's back in a moment when we need him and John in defence."
"The market is open in January but I don't think we will be buying or selling... There has been no contact from other clubs or from his people."

Re: David Luiz
Barcelona again consider Chelsea's David Luiz:
With captain Carles Puyol's continual fitness problems and a contract extension with young Spain international Marc Bartra still yet to be agreed, Barcelona are considering following up their unsuccessful summer bid for David Luiz with a further attempt to sign the out-of-favor Chelsea defender

David Luiz had a monster of a game in midfield for Chelsea today. His ability to find his man with long passes is phenomenal. Analysis of his passing technique..
