AIC's Serie A Team of the Year (2011) is spot on.
Last night was the Gran Gala del Calcio (or something) awards. Awards were given to the best coach (Allegri), best player (Ibra), best Serie B player (El Shaarawy), best team (Udinese) and there was also a team of the year, which was obvious, but still very good:

Hernanes was better than all those midfielders imo

If Marchisio and Thiago Motta can make it for their performances solely in 2011 where on earth is Andrea Pirlo? Marchisio was fantastic, however prior to Pirlo's arrival he was out of position and failing to be anywhere near as effective. Motta has been constantly injured, so they each have about six months to offer between them, in which case Pirlo clinches it as the heart of Juventus' midfield.
Hernanes hasn't had a great start to this season, however he was incredible in the first half so he has a case.
How Ranocchia has been on equal footing with Nesta over the entire calendar year is beyond me.
