Re: Why do germans not play outside of Germany
Holland has almost 17 million people and Portugal has 11 million. How come Benfica and Porto are better then Feyenoord or Ajax then?^^^^^^^^

Because they have the best scouts in Europe, perhaps?

Benfica, Sporting and Porto scouts are the best in the business.
It helps they usually sell their players at 5000% profit.

Just because they've got a couple better years ATM doesn't mean they don't get all their stars poached as well.

Actually the country that seems to export the least players is England. You almost never see an English player playing abroad.

Because English players find it hardest to adapt to different leagues the most

Not true. Portuguese clubs play hardball. Falcao was sold for 40M. Hulk is frequently stated to be worth "80M". They know the value of what they have in their hands. On the other end, Stek was sold for 3M and Suarsex fro 25M. Both would have been very different with a Portuguese club.

When you deal with clubs in Portugal you are usually dealing with Super Agent Jorge Mendes. Whenever he is involved the transfer price doubles at least.

Re: Why do germans not play outside of Germany
I just don't think that English players need to move abroad. The fact that they're usually well-liked by English fans makes it worth to pay them a bit more than their skillset would warrant.

Re: Why do germans not play outside of Germany
I dont think many English players are good enough to play abroad tbh. then there's the cultural differences & language barriers. If you look at most countries around Europe the majority of people speak a couple of languages at least. Compared to us English who only speak English. I think its easier for a foreigner to come here and fit in, in comparison to an Englishman moving abroad.
When people talk about the English teams chances at winning competitions and how good players are they tend to be laughed at mocked.
Yet there is a sausage slapping fest when talking about Germans and every 1 seems to believe Germany is this amazing superstar footballer producing machine.
People go on about how good Bayern are regarding youth and their German players, yet if you look at their squad of 25 there are like 10 none Germans in it.
I dont think there are as many big teams in the German league as others, they cant all play for Bayern, so you would think surely some of these amazing gifted players would find opportunities in other leagues.

That's true but other big leagues sometimes export their national players. Spain does it quite a lot.
Though it's also true that Spain currently has it's best generation ever and has more exporting material.

actually ur wrong here, the fact that Germany could integrate U-21 players to the NT in 2010 WC brought all the hype
and in the bundesliga, there are BIG teams like schalke, bvb, berlin, neverkusen, stuutgart rtc.. these teams sell out EVERY GAME..
but like the others have said, Bayern monopolized earlier

I don't think they aren't good enough. It depends on the player, Some are quite good. The problem is probably english clubs are willing to pay for them much more than a foreign team would.
And germany has such a good reputation NT wise not only because of their player but also for their good team chemistry which the English NT doesn't have.

You forgot Bremen.
Historically it's Munchengladbach in the 70's, Hamburg in the 80's, Schalke and Dortmund in the 90's and Schalke, Dortmund and Werder Bremen in the 2000's.

I know Bundesliga teams get big attendances, but does this actually make a team a big club. You cant really compare allot of those teams to the likes of Man Utd, Barca, Real, Juventus.
This is probably partly ignorance on my part and a bad way to put it across but I think it would be the same with allot of others.
You could ask who are the big teams of the EPL- people will say Liverpool Man Utd etc, could ask who are the big Spanish teams-Real, Barca, Big Italian Teams-Juve Milan.
Ask me who are the big German teams I would say Bayern then errrrm Dortmund because of the 90s and they had a nice fluorescent shirt.

Re: Why do germans not play outside of Germany
I don't see any reason why German players should leave Germany. They don't have to learn a new language, new city. Their league and national team is getting stronger. And it's not like Bayern are the ONLY big team in Germany, there are several clubs German internationals could move to keep their spot in the national team. They have every reason to stay in Germany.

Not exactly true.
Role players in the NBA could be stars in the Euroleague and get paid more because of that.
For example, Josh Childress was worth like 7-9m a year in NBA, whereas in the Euroleague he got like 13.
