Cristiano scored 60 goals and provided 15 assists in all competition, great stats no doubt, but his overall performance compared to his teammates Benzema and Higuain was not better.. he scored more goals, cause he had more playing time, was responsible for the penalties..
About big games? didn't Benzema score 3 goals and assisted 2 against Barcelona this season (6 games in all comps, Liga Copa and Spanish Super)? Cristiano on the other hand scored 4 with 0 assists against Barcelona.. So was effective in big games like Cristiano ?

Some Stats (Cristiano vs Higuain vs Benzema)?

Cristiano 60 (46 without penalties)+15 assists in 4870 minutes. (AVG: Goal/Assist every 65 min including penalties// without penalties, Goal/Assist every 80 min).
Benzema 32+15 in 3430. (AVG: Goal/Assist every 73 min).
Higuain 26+11 in 2623. (AVG: Goal/Assist every 71 min).
Ozil 7+24 in 3830. (AVG: Goal/Assist every 123 min).

This is just example that Cristiano wasn't the most important player on his team.

On the other hand, Messi scored 72 goals and provided 29 assists.. ignore the stats, he was involved in most of Barcelona's goals, build up and created most chances in (UCL+Liga+Copa): 135 chances VS 132 (Xavi and Iniesta combined).... and most of the chances he created and assists he provided where after dropping to the midfield an acting as a play-maker.. playing 2 roles, play-maker and a Finisher (he was the most effective EVER, broke all-time record).... In other words, Messi was Ozil + Cristiano this season, this is how important he role was with respect to Barca!!

Its true that Cristiano helped his team to win the Liga with great Stats, yet he was as gd as Benzema, Ozil, Alonso (importance of his role), he didn't win the UCL neither did Messi.. but Messi has a great Super Copa Performance against Real Madrid, very gd performance agianst Real in the Copa.. In the League, Messi was way better on the Bernabeu, while Cristiano more effective on the Camp Nou...

Messi Vs Real Madrid: 3W, 2D, 1 L { 3 goals, 4 ASSISTS and this is what makes him special, if he couldn't score he has more solution, he can create and assist} while Cristiano has to wait for Ozil to create for him chances (2 goals at camp nou created by great final passes by Ozil).
Cristiano vs Barcelona this season: 1W, 2D, 3L {4 goals, 0 assists}.


Conclusion, yes Cristiano had great stats (yet behind Messi with some distance), but his role, the important of his role, can't be compared to Messi's role at Barca this season... Messi had to deal with Villa/Pedro/Alexis.Xavi/Iniesta all injured for big parts of the season, he had to do everything he was succeeded until Luck was against him vs Chelsea (if that tie was played 1000 times,Barcelona should have qualified in 99...)
Head to head, Messi was better, Real Madrid won the Liga, it wasn't just Cristiano.. While, Messi was the reason why Barca won CWC, SSC, UefaSuper, 2nd in the Liga, UCL Semis and Copa Final..

Ballon d'or is for the player who had the best individual performance in the season. Messi had the Best individual performance ans Stats EVER (breaking every single record, being the most important player on his team...)

Face it gents, Cristiano has a very good chance of winning Balon D'or and deserves just as much as Messi. Need I mention Gomez and RvP also has a say in this depending on how Euros turns out...

The second thread is made at the end of the season in may 2012 when all the games have been played.

What happened in between? Thanks to my excel skills, i count over 6 months of football, over 40 games, hundreds of minutes of playtime, improved performances and sheer football joy.

Özil never was shit this season nor the last one. He was forced to play much deeper compared to previous season, thats why in the beginning of the season we were missing his talents when it came to counter attack or building up an attack. Since october he has coped of doing both things brilliantly. He has a huge potential of becoming WC, take it or leave it.

Any threads made by Xabi should not be used as evidence to generalise and dear Kizu is just being a fan i.e getting overly excited. All in all, a rather fail assessment of RM fans from our dear LM...
