Inter president Massimo Moratti has revealed that he is making a serious bid to sign Manchester City's wantaway forward Carlos Tevez.

The Nerazzuri's city rivals AC Milan have already reached an agreement with the player, according to Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani, and are now trying to strike a deal with the Argentine's English club.

However, Inter have stepped up their bid to hijack the deal over the past week and Moratti has now claimed after meeting with sporting director Marco Branca on Monday that they could yet pull off what would be a remarkable transfer coup.

"We're trying to figure out if it can be done," the 66-year-old Italian is quoted as saying by Goal.com Italia.

"When we make a move like this we never do so just for fun. We have received information and we now want to see how it goes.

"It's not a matter of being optimistic or pessimistic, we must only just wait."

Moratti is feeling upbeat at the moment, though, with the Nerazzurri having defeated Parma 5-0 at San Siro on Saturday night - their fifth successive Serie A win - to set themselves up nicely for Sunday's eagerly awaited derby clash with Milan.

"It's an important week for us and I was happy to see the team do so well on Saturday as this will give us much more serenity for the next few days," he added.

Inter currently sit fifth in the standings, eight points off the pace.

Dont anyone remember summer?

Who was then in talks with City over Tevez?
Just coz Inter is doing a profesional job of waiting for window to open and then talk to club 1st doenst mean they are doing in spite, beside Milan fckd themselfs over with talking to player 1st, with talking pictures with him and acting like he is already theirs, reportedly City is pissed off about those pics.

Anyways this is win win for Moratti, either he gets the player or he pisses of Milan and makes them payup.

Real badly.

we're interested in him and we'll buy him if the price is right

last window we offered to take him on free loan, man city rejected. now milan came with the same kind of bid we did of a free loan, while we're offering more

basically we've tried to get him more than milan has. at least in professional ways

Sport Mediaset: Inter have reach an agreement with City for Tevez: free loan with an obligation to buy at 27 million. Next up is player's salary.

Mario Sconcerti: "I was convinced that Tevez is going to Milan because of the agreement. But when the agent is willing to sit at a table with Inter, everything changes and City do not want to please Tevez."

Smartest way to do bussiness for Inter, if they went directly after Tevez like they did in the summer they would have ended paying 35-40M, instead wait for Milan to do the bargain and set a price range then make use of Milan screwing on small details and top their offer by 2M.

Is there one fan out there who can honestly put their hand up and say "Yes, I strongly believe that Inter want to buy Tevez and can do so, even after having to sell Eto'o and looking for a new club for Sneijder in a bid to reduce their wage bill to achieve the self sustainability that is necessary for the imminent financial fair play"?

Inter are broke. They lost over 250m euro's in the three years stemming from 2007-2010 and for season 2010-11 they tried to reduce their losses to 70m and had a goal to reduce it this season to 50m and then the season after to a 30m that would be accepted by FFP. In 2010-11, Inter lost 90m, more than 20m more than they allowed for themselves to lose. They are behind and will continue to sell, buying only young, cheap players who will eat only a small amount of their wage bill. Look at Castaignos, Alvarez, Jonathan, Zarate, Poli, Nagatomo. Last season Inter broke even in the transfer market after making a surplus of 10m euro's the season before and even then they were missing their financial goals, who do they have left to sell to finance purchases? Their big signing to replace Eto'o? Diego Forlan, a man way past it, arrived for less than 5m euro's and has a relatively small wage.

The Inter interest in Tevez is not real.

.

What about getting Tevez on a loan or on a small-ish fee and selling Wesley Sneijder and maybe someone else like Thiago Motta to offset the cost? Inter are in a hard place financially but Milan can't exactly go around breaking the bank every window like they used too neither, not with that wage bill and FFP on the horizon.

exactly, like chinomaster said, if we splash 27m on tevez and sell none of our players then yea we'll be in a bad situation, but if we spend 27 m on tevez and unload at least one or 2 of our high earners (chicu etc) then we should be ok

And Milan is swiming in cash? Thats why you cant ever send an offer that isnt loan these days?
What Inter did with Etoo, Milan did ages ago with Kaka, so dont act like ur better then us with money, in last 5+ years beside one summer of binho and ibra(when bunga bunga just had enough already getting punded by Inter) you bought nothing but some cheap transfers...
You are nothing better then Inter.

Related news, Inter was weeks in talks to some Argentinian kid Dybala and deal was close, now Milan is after him and raising price, Galiani really is butthurth, me happy Smile

So City won't loan him to Milan, but they will for Inter? And that is what I said; if Inter want Tevez, they will need to sell and I doubt many would agree with Tevez in, Sneijder out. Thiago Motta would not sell for more than 15m and his wages are only a portion of what Inter would need to pay Tevez.

As for Milan, maybe they can buy him, maybe they can't. All I wanted to say is he will not go to Inter. For Milan to buy him we would need another capital injection from Berlusconi and one that is probably unlikely as Mino Raiola today revealed, Hamsik would have been signed had Berlusconi not lost his law suit. Same will probably be with Tevez...

I thought you could read? Seems not... When did I ever say he will go to Milan or Milan are swimming in cash? All I said was he will not go to Inter as they cannot afford him and will do just fine without him. Never did I say Milan have a larger spending power than Inter. But, of couse, you were never one to read before opening your mouth. Ima razlog zasto nam je Bog dao dva uha a samo jedna usta. Listen before you argue...
