Attitude vs Ceiling
What do you prefer in a player, boundless amounts of talent or a desire to improve and to get better?
While the very best players cannot get by on pure hard work you have players who desire to get better so simply work very hard on the training ground.

Re: Attitude vs Ceiling
Maybe I didn't explain myself clearly. I didn't mean a player with bad attitude vs a player who works hard.
I more meant a hard working player as opposed to a player with loads of talent but neither hardworking nor lazy.

Re: Attitude vs Ceiling
Talent is useless without the will to improve.
I would always prefer a teamplayer that works hard to a great player with bad attitude.

Re: Attitude vs Ceiling
ceiling is still not clear because nobody really knows how good you can become.. football manager and ea sports try , but ultimately hard work will make you the best.. this barcelona team is really talented but the only reason they are playing so well is that they have spent hours in training working hard..

Still prefer attitude.
Football is somewhat simple. If you do the basic things very well, chances are you will win. With hardwork, you can achieve that IMO.

To some extent but what about a player like Le Tessier, an amazing player who scored bags of goals yet was labeled by many as very lazy and had a poor attitude.

I have not seen Le Tissier to be honest. Basically, i prefer team players who work hard. If they come with talent, thats great.

Re: Attitude vs Ceiling
I don't think you can reach first division without working hard, likewise talent does not come just by the grace of heaven, hours upon hours of playing are required.
But i get the point, i always prefer magical "lazy" players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Dimitar Berbatov, Marco Van Basten than hard working "give all for the team" players like Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen.
It goes with my personality, i feel a bit like Zlatan.

Re: Attitude vs Ceiling
Best example is my young cousin who has loads of talent, i mean, when i watched him play football, it was just unbelievable what he could do with the ball.
But there is one problem, he doesnt work hard and now hes 18, chances to sign for a big club here in Switzerland are gettin thiner.
