Rodrigo back?
http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/operacion-retorno-rodrigo-junio/20111228dasdaiftb_35/Tes
Real Madrid is looking into buying back Rodrigo from Benfica, for about 12M. We still have the right of first refusal after losing the buying option last summer.
As exciting as getting one of our own back to Madrid, im sorry to say that i am not a fan of this deal. There are pros and cons obviously to the deal:
pros:
-cantera back
-3rd CF
-possibility to play Benzema and Higuain together more often
cons:
-12M for 3rd CF? gtfo
-although he has improved a lot, he is still not established as a player for benfica, too young.
-move to madrid would stop the development curve he is on
-what does he bring that we dont have? nothing, just CF depth with the skills to play wide, but nothing outstanding about him technically that would make him a threat from outside. we need to add forwards with penetration imo.
-(if we sign someone like Hazard to replace Kaka, he will be never see the pitch)
Like i said, not a fan, the euphoria about Callejon is nice and all, he is getting wildly overrated for nothing, and this is just taking it one step further imo.

Re: Rodrigo back?
Rodrigo who? Cant remember he was one of own tbh. Average striker nothing more, but the price totally off the limit.

Re: Rodrigo back?
Wheww I'm not the only one against this.
Great concept but for what 12 million to hinder his progress and to be a back up to a back up.

Re: Rodrigo back?
If the club is serious about using him then I'm all for it. He's quite good imo and people writing him off are probably the same people who thought Callejon would be Pedro Leon 2.0 lol
If the club isn't really that serious about him though then I'm against it. If we sign him it should be because we're going to use him. I personally think he's worth using, he's Spain's U-21 starting striker and one of their main threats.

Re: Rodrigo back?
Rodrigo is a very decent player.
If we bought him backed and loaned him to Valencia, then it would be a decent deal.
But other than that exact scenario, I can't see it working out...

Re: Rodrigo back?
He will get time in CdR and some early CL games and if he does well he might start a real game like Callejon.
However, it's a risk and a gamble becouse Mou can turn him into a Canales/Pedro Leon-situation again. I still want more Castilla back

Re: Rodrigo back?
Rodrigo is definitely talented and he has a chance to become a top striker one day, but there just aint to room for him. He wont become a better player at Madrid.
12 mil is quite a lot as well.

Re: Rodrigo back?
We have Callejon as 3rd striker who is reliable whenever we need him. if we count Morata too as fourth striker then there's no place for him.
Let's not stop his developing, the kid will not have any playing time at Real Madrid.

Re: Rodrigo back?
I like Rodrigo, but it would be useless to buy him back when we have Ronaldo and Callejon who could play as CF and Morata waiting in Castilla.

Re: Rodrigo back?
why mention callejon as a striker, when he is a midfielder, who gets his game time AS a MIDFIELDER and not striker....if Rodrigo comes it will sure mean that he will get his fair share of time if he impresses with good performances/goals....but then again 12M thats insane lol....i dont even want canales back for that amount, there are more cheaper options just as talented or even more

he might score goals...but he IS a midfielder...just like ronaldo...he occupies the wing, occasionally making ghost runs and scores

Re: Rodrigo back?
Speaking to Radio Renascenca on Wednesday, Adalberto Machado did not rule out a move back to the Santiago Bernabeu for the 20-year-old, in response to a report in AS that claimed the Blancos were willing to pay €12 million in order to bring him back.
"Rodrigo is a player of Benfica and he has three more years on his contract," said Machado. "If there is an interest from Madrid, it is because he is doing a good work and that is always a reason to be satisfied.
However, Machado insisted that Rodrigo's signature will not come cheap, after Madrid opted against taking up their previous buy-back clause, before proceeding to make the admission that his son is currently content with life at Benfica.
"Madrid had secured a buy-back clause, but it no longer exists, so if they want him again then they will have to negotiate with Benfica," he continued.
"Rodrigo is very satisfied at Benfica. He is still getting settled and has experienced players like [Oscar] Cardozo and [Javier] Saviola still ahead of him, but he is having a good amount of playing opportunities."

Re: Rodrigo back?
He has talent, but not worth the 12m. If we are in a need of strikers, we must use the castilla.Ganso wrote:not sure if serious...The xcx wrote:Rodrigo who? Cant remember he was one of own tbh. Average striker nothing more, but the price totally off the limit.

Re: Rodrigo back?
I've been checking in on the kid's performances every now and again, always had soft spot for him.
Not ready to be bought back and sit behind Hig and Benz, definitely not worth buying him back and then just loaning him out within la liga. He's fine where he is.

Re: Rodrigo back?
^ I totally agree, better to develop to be a better player than just sit back in the bench. Hes far better off in one of the greatest productive clubs ever. Benfica.
