Argentines and Argentina fans I know don't put Messi on the same level as Maradona due to the obvious NT success and underdog Napoli status compared to big time Barcelona that Messi plays in.

Pretty much. Maradona is old news now. Over here, people rate C. Ronaldo over Figo or Eusébio. I'm surprised Maradona had so many votes.

I'm not discrediting Messi. I'm only saying what's obvious. People vote for the hero of their generation. Messi is obviously a great player. I gave the example of Ronaldo and Eusebio. The latter achieved much more, but is nowadays behind in votes. I bet a large majority of the people who voted didn't even watch Maradona playing.
I'm not even saying Maradona > Messi, I'm just saying the result of the voting was obvious before it even started.

Maradona won a WC, there is nothing that can compare to putting a star on my beloved Albiceleste kit. Is it even a debatable issue?
Maradona by far is the best indivually and a bigger national hero, apart from winning with Barca (which I am sure any poster in here would have won the same if he played for Barca) the guy has done nothing, an assist againg Nigeria and wawa land and suddenly he is not a NT flop.
