Should Callejon replace Villa?
14 app, 9 goals
scoring in all competition,
makes runs like higuain
performing while pedrito is flopping
Torres wishes he was like Vanilla Ice
Soldado should replace Torres, so im not counting that option.
should he?

Re: Should Callejon replace Villa?
Is Callejon a regular starter at Madrid?
You said 14 appearances but that could account to being given sub roles for a game here and there throughout the season.

If he outperforms Pedro this season.....that's who he should replace.I don't see it happening though.

Re: Should Callejon replace Villa?
I think Nick clearly said Villa's replacement and not Torres's. Or maybe Llorente and Soldado can play on the wings and I didn't know lol.

Wings? Play Mata, Silva, Iniesta, Cazorla etc, plenty of better choices.

none of them score goals like Callejon, Spain create plenty enough with the other guys

Re: Should Callejon replace Villa?
Maybe on the squad, but I doubt hell even get playing time on the Euros, there are quite a few players higher in the pecking order.Mata,Pedro,Lllorente,Soldado,Silva,Iniesta(depending on formation),Navas...
and honestly, the coach isnt going to start a player he barely got to test

None of those actually give Spain what Villa does consistently. Goals. Callejon is a goal scorer and if anything they could use a player like him a sub.

Re: Should Callejon replace Villa?
Yeah I've been saying it Nick
The creativity is already there, time to fix the penetration
Callejon is a winger, but also a goalscorer. David Villa has played as a winger lately for a Spain but his role was not just to stretch the game but to score, which Iniesta, Cazorla, Mata etc can't do. This forward line would be ideal imo
Iniesta - Llorente/Soldado - Raul/Callejon

Non of them can score to save their life. Spain need a good goalscorer in Villa's absence.

Re: Should Callejon replace Villa?
I'm confident Callejon will make the World Cup squad....but this is a bit late.
You're asking for space that isn't even there.

Re: Should Callejon replace Villa?
Yes, he should. He is basically forcing his way into the lineup of Real Madrid, so theres no doubt that if there was a friendly tomorrow, he should be starting. But seeing as he probably wont continue this form, a squad place in the Euros for example will be a great achievement.

Re: Should Callejon replace Villa?
I like how when he played with Espanyol nobody talked about him, now he scores in a few meaningless matches for Mardid and Madridista's think he should be on the NT starting.

Do you think anyone would give a flying *bleep* about Pedro if he played in a mid-table La Liga team?

Re: Should Callejon replace Villa?
Barring a dramatic turn of form, to even consider Fernando Torres for selection is ludicrous. He has been utterly rubbish for verging on two years now. He has 5 goals in 35 appearances at Chelsea. He can't even get a game anymore. He'll get one last shot when Drogba leaves for the AFCON, but based on all evidence available to us, Torres is not going to travel back 3/4 years in time and magically rediscover himself.
Another option I'd be quick to shoot down is the recall of Raul - NO. That bandwagon needs to be shot down before it even starts (it will). Just no.
Llorente & Soldado are musts. After that it's all up for grabs, I see no reason why Callejon couldn't make the trip to Ukraine if he keeps playing the way he has been.

Re: Should Callejon replace Villa?
Honestly, I think Llorente for the national team is ludicrously overrated. He doesn't fit in with the playing style at all, could be a good option for the bench, but I shake my head every time someone makes a Spain formation with him starting.
