Re: Rumour Mill
I don't suppose he'd fetch much? Reports seem to say he's leaving because of his bad attitude which makes me a bit more thankful that we let him go, everybody seems to think he's amazing on here because he's a good dribbler...

Yeah that's alright, thought it'd be less anyways. Not happy with Borini joining rivals, hope he fails miserably. I quite liked him at Roma, do we own any percentage of him or get any of that deal?

Don't want him to be overpriced though. Don't want him to have the weight of a heavy price tag on his shoulders.

Re: Rumour Mill
To be honest with you, I'm still not sold on him. I'd love it better if he had the potential to play a DLP role in the double pivot alongside a pure DM like Mikel. That's the position we need to fix the most after the RB issue.

You guys don't have an am,hazard and Mata are wingers, ramires is a pseudo winger/cm/rb.lampard is a cm.

Re: Rumour Mill
Mata played half of last season as an AM and Marin can back him up there if need be. Hazard can play LW. Marin can also back him up. Ramires will play RW as long as we don't buy a RW. I feel buying Oscar is surplus to requirements if we're going to be rotating him with Hazard and Mata, especially for that price. Its just like signing Jovetic. Signing another Hazard.
Don't get me wrong, he's a great young talent. I just don't see the need to buy him if we're going to be using him mainly as a winger/AM. If he could adapt to a CM role and rotate with Lampard(who can't play all the matches anyway) it would be of greater help to the team and what we need right now.
Or maybe its just me.

Re: Rumour Mill
I agree Barrett. The only way we should be considering him is if we are going to play 4-3-3 or Christmas tree.

Re: Rumour Mill
It depends on what rdm thinks.I'll be hoping he doesn't leave,18 is too young to move and to have playing time In jeopardy. There will also be price tag pressure as you said

No I agree as well. Mata is at his best, by far, when played centrally, and Hazard claims he too wants to play down the middle, so I don't really see the rationale behind paying so much for yet another player whose best position is in the center. (And this is assuming Robbie sticks with the 4-2-3-1, which I believe he will).
Unless there is some plan to either attempt to convert him into a CM, or try something unexpected like
Hazard - Oscar - Mata (which really wouldn't be using the two we already have to their best ability anyway), I can't see why this pursuit is being carried out.

Re: Rumour Mill
In my mind the best case is either as said above or a loan back. He's still young so as Ganso said he needs playing time. I don't see why we wouldn't loan back for a season or 2 until we can find a regular place for him.

I can't see paying £20m+ for a loan-back player. If he's signed, he's staying I'd wager.

Re: Rumour Mill
the only thing about a loan back is we spent 25m on a player who won't play for us and we still need a CM/RW.

True but if we're wanting him to reach his highest potential then he needs to be playing as much as possible. If he becomes what his ability suggests he can then he'd certainly be worth it.
That said I don't see us loaning him back

gtfo of the club
"Malouda was offered to us," he told reporters. "He is a very interesting player, but you get scared when they tell your their demainds.
"They say they are in crisis in Europe, but they spend so much money on transfers there. He was offered to us, but when you think about his wages, it gets hard.
"He is a very good player, an old-school midfielder who can hold the ball and set the tone in attack."
