rwo power wrote:Well, I can still remember the 1990 World Cup pretty vividly. There was a reason he won the 1990 Ballon d'Or and got several other honours around that time. And for those who hold high that Xavi is a WC and EC winner - well, the same is valid for Loddar, too.The Franchise wrote:.I wonder how many actually saw Matthäus considering he stopped being a centermid in like 92 and became a sweeper not long after that...
Well I dont doubt you have a recollection of him, but I somehow doubt all the people who think the same have seen the same.

Re: Xavi? The greatest CM ever?
Is he even the best midfielder barca have at the moment? iniesta is younger and more skillful, xavi better at setting tempo but does that make him a better midfielder?
rivelino and valderrama both come to mind as well

Younger isnt an attribute.
Yes, Xavi is better.
Valderrama...stop it.

age has to be considered when comparing them
valderrama is in that category of "great player held back by his nationality"
xavi would've won diddly-squat playing for colombia

Re: Xavi? The greatest CM ever?
How does it? Explain how Iniest beig younger makes him better.
And I didnt say Valderrama wasnt a great player, nor am I punishing him for not winning things. But there were countless names who were better than him.
I mean, of all the names you could of named that was a strange one.

Iniesta can still improve, xavi has peaked.
I mentioned valderrama as i was just thinking of center mids that play a similar way to xavi - off the top of my head, and i thought of him

What does age have to do with anything?
The only thing age has to do with is potential tbh.
And nobody is talking about potential in a 'greatest _____?' thread...or they shouldn't be.
