Our pressing should be more organised

Too many times I see our players just rush towards the ball leaving gaps. We need to press more tactically and not just rush towards the ball in a headless manner.

It's work in progress, we have been doing that for a couple of months only, and we are not even consistent at it

It only takes 5 minutes for Mourinho to explain not to rush in a headless manner towards the ball.

I think some players are simply faster and far better at pressing than others ie not everyone does their job well ie spaces open up.

It's obvious you're pointing fingers at Di Maria.....and that is completely unwarranted because he is never allowed to ISO press because he is always doing CR and to some extent Benz/Higuain's jobs as well.

The team has to press together. If everyone doesn't press then gaps will be left and the pressing won't be very effective.

I thought he was a team player now.

He is.....but what you're aiming for.......this fluid synchronized pressing.......is unrealistic.

However.....not everyone will press at the same efficency.....ie there will always be passing routes for the opposition.

That's not pressing though. Pressing is when the whole team press and push high up the pitch to retrieve the ball. Every team has players who press when they want, that doesn't mean the team is pressing.

It's true though. It's just a minor defect in our pressing.

give it time, nothing gets accomplished overnight

Still have no idea if there is anything about the team mt actually likes.

I actually like the fact that we're attempting to press and keep the ball better. It's just we need to press properly in order for it to be fully effective.

Well yeah I kind of agree with you on that point. However it's a process that comes with practice. We'll get it eventually.

It takes time Mt. Hopefully it is something we can improve on.

I think our pressing is supposed to be like that so we recover the ball quickly for quicker counter attacks. It might leave gaps but recovering the ball high up means more dangerous counter attacks. Considiring Mou loves Di Maria for his pressing, and I'm assuming it's him you're pointing the finger on, that's most likely how Mou wants it. I'm no expert, but just a guess.
